YOU HAVE OPENED A HUMUNGUS CAN OF WORMS! I personally prefer the valentine 1 because it can detect front and rear and tell me how many there are and where they are!hence, the arrows.Once I experienced those arrows,I can't use anything else!

Hands down Valentine 1. It is the best and keep up with tech and you never have to purchase another because you can continue to upgrade it. I would strongly suggest it. Not sold in stores like the essort and other. The new one mentioned about need to be truly test and if it is better then I would get it.

Valentine 1. period.
Mine has done a 8,000+ mile ocean to ocean roundtrip, a couple runs from SoCal to Frisco, and numerous open country runs of a few hundred to 500 miles .
The valentine 1 has paid for itself about 4, maybe 6 times over.
The range is superb, and as mentioned above knowing whether the detection is from ahead, behind, or to the sides is worth the cost alone.

Valentine 1 is good...for a radar detector. Alot of departments are going to laser so personally if I were looking for a ***** out setup I would do something a little different and frankly far more effective. I'd get a Escort Passport 8500 X50 and an Escort ZR3 laser shifter. Find out what the local Johny Laws are using in your area or routes. If they are using laser usually your radar/laser detector will only go off when you've taken a direct hit...by then it's too late.

Happy V1 user here - could not imagine using anything else.
The directional arrows make the difference and have saved me countless times. Its nice not having to guess where the trap is (or might be). With the arrows I know to look either ahead or behind me in stead of wasting my time looking everywhere.

I've sworn by it for the last 8 yrs, with NO tickets.... and I drive pretty aggressively. Just last week, on pretty deserted highway, doing 130 on long stretch, just before hill V1 went off, I pulled the BatChute and slowed to 75, right as he topped the hill, then he waved and went on........WHEW!!!!!

There are a lot of top rate detectors, but any that Ive tried never touched my V1.
The saying from Car and Driver is true "Once you've lived with the arrows, you'll never know how you made it without them..."
If you're not sure, buy the 3 top performers, and try them all. They all seem to have 30 day returns.
Here is a good site to get info.

Passport 8500 with ZR3 shifter hands down. You can't believe the looks on the cops faces when they can't get a laser signal. The ZR-3 plugs into the 8500, so they are one unit.

Laser "shifters" or jammers dont work.

Had a V1 for about 8 years or so. Nothing but high speed interstate miles. Probably about 250K overall. The V1 saves me at least a couple times a day on the interstate.
Had lots of other detectors in the past but the V1 is a keeper IMHO.
The V1 arrow may look a bit gimmicky, but they work!
Plus, I had laser shot at me 3 different times, all while cruising through Albuquerque and I about crapped my pants because that's the only time I have heard the laser warning from the V1. A heads up tone, that's for sure!
