But if it is a current year, the NCM won't do it.

Just go to a dealer and ask for a VIS. I went back to my dealer a week later to get mine.

Not correct, the NCM gets you a build sheet for a current year car. Ordered mine 2 months after I got the car and they delivered it. The dealer does not have build sheets as far as I know.

Thanks Rogue Wave, guess that explains why I couldn't find it on the home page. Thanks for the info Pipe dreams, I didn't think we could order them so early. The web page only gives you the option of ordering from 1981-2005. I tried ordering one for my 2006, will have to see what happens.

How did you manage to order one for a 2006? The drop down list box where you specify year and then provide VIN does not have 2006 in it. It only has 1981 to 2005.

It's on the home page under "NCM Exclusives" 10th item down. Just call they don't have the years up to date, when I ordered it only had up to 2004 .

When I picked up my C6 at NCM 12/12/05, my guide had my window sticker and build sheet for my car.

I ordered and received mine for a 2006. The deal is that they don't get them immediately for the current model year. It may take them months to get the build sheet after the car is built. Its likely more easy for them to just show 2005 as the cutoff rather than disappoint current model year owners if they don't have the sheet yet. You can call Betty @ the NCM and she can check whether they have the build sheet yet. They had mine, but my car was built in September 2005. I got it laminated with the window sticker for about $75. Looks really nice.

It's a large sheet of paper that has the VIN of the carplus all the accessory equipment to be added, color of ext/int, etc. It'swhat they use on the assy line to know what each particular car takes. if you go the the GTG on Sun., I'll show you mine. It's a novelty item, conversation piece, if anything.
