The DSOM to AO difference is about the same as the C5 Electron Blue to Lemans Blue. Very little difference.

From what I can tell after staring at my DSOM is that its darker and has more of a reddish tint. I think I like my DSOM much better, but I'll have to see the AO in person. I'm thinking of getting the 2007, but not sure I like the AO as much as my DSOM.

As you can see in the last two pics, they appear almost identical, but also notice the AO is in the rain and my DSOM is in the full sun. The DSOM looks almost RUST color in the rain, so I think GM accomplished what they were trying to do...capture the nice orange color from the DSOM, but in all lights. Sorry, no pics of DSOM in the rain because who takes pics of their car when its dirty!!!!!

If you actually see them side by side there's a bigger difference than shows in the pictures. I think Daytona Sunset Orange looks the best.

In another thread, we've seen pics of a car painted one of the colors of orange with a chip of each laying on it. I have a slight preference for the DSOM, but I still like both of them.

I'm trading my DSOM for Atomic Orange. I saw AO at the Birthday Bash and think I prefer the DSOM. As DSOM isn't available, that leaves me with AO, and a $750 tint-coat cost. Oh, well.

The two colors are much different in person.

I don't think it will help.

From the reaction to AO at the Birthday Bash, plus the $750 cost, it could be a one year color.

DSOM is sublime- it looks very different as the lighting changes. The car will be orange, or bronze, or even gold depending upon the sunlight it bathes in. I don't know if AO does this; I've not seen it first-hand. Now that I own a DSOM car, I can't imagine why I would have ever considered any other color (I was focused on an LMB, Silver, or Monterey Red prior to purchase). The Cashmere interior compliments it beautifully. I am glad GM is discontinuing it- I'll have one of a few.

And as I heard at the Bash they are still having problems getting the panels to match it many not last that long.

What do you mean "having trouble getting the panels to match" How does that happen if they paint the car with the same color paint? Are there different materials in the various panels? Hum.

I guess this means we may not have an orange option in 08-09, etc. That's what happened with my Dark Bowling Green Metallic 2001. I wanted a new vette, but didn't care for any of the ordinary colors. I've always been the type to want or do whatever is different than the norm.

All I can say is I heard the man that was driving the AO vert at the Bash say they were still working on the paint process to get the panels to match. It seems some colors they just can't get to work. Like the Copper Metallic in 94. They sprayed 116 of them and then gave up.

Wow, that's interesting. I didn't realize they couln't just pick any color they wanted.

I say we send this thread to the paint guy at GM, haha, and tell him we want DSOM for 07 or "we ain't buyin a new one".

Not always. In 98 they tried Aztec Gold. Only sprayed 15 of them before giving up. They've always had trouble with real metallic colors.

Now I'm wondering what they do with all the "oops" colored vettes that didn't work out? Sell them to employees? I don't need a answer, just thinking about it.
