Poll: ashtray door fit and closure

Poll: ashtray door fit and closure
Okay, I read the thread about "why an ashtray" and noticed that several of you fine folks reported that the ashtray (coin holder, stash bin, whatever) door fit poorly and/or didn't stay closed well. Mine doesn't fit flush, and opens at the least little touch. So, inquiring minds want to know? How's yours?
P.S. I realize that this is a bit on-topic for a poll, but I'll let someone else do the "what kind of underwear" poll.

As I mentioned on the other post...
Besides not fitting worth a damn, it opens when I go over freeway dots (F55, too!) and when I accelerate hard (like that never happens).
Even better, when I take caravan road trips, I have a plug in CB radio for car-to-car. If I use the power plug in the asstray, it gives me ignition interferance and crackles like a banshee if I use the horn. The plug in the console is isolated.
Wouldn't you think GM would have figured a lot, if not most, of the use for the lighter plug would be for accessories and isolate that circuit? No, it is like a 56 Belaire still. Dumbasses.

Mine did the same thing - barely closed and would open at the least touch or bump. I took the cover out and I believe that the spring on the left side was not on properly. I put it back together and it's working fine now. The fit still leaves a bit to be desired. I wish they would eliminate the ashtray/lighter and just give us a little storage bin. No one that I know that smokes uses the ashtray anyhow. At least they improved it over the C5. The C5's cover was a vast expanse of the cheapest piece of sharp plastic they could come up with.

Probably the most inaccessible auto ashtray I've ever seen in my life.
Since I don't smoke, it is officially an awkward coin holder in the BlueCoupe.

I had posted before that the ashtray in our 06 is not soft-touch to open or close. It binds and you must push on the bottom of the door to open it and to get it to close and stay shut you again have to push on the bottom of the door. Getting fixed next week.

Didn't notice anything wrong with mine, but I only opened it once when first inspecting the car. It probably will never be opened again, because I have no use for it.

Just sent the following message to Chevy via the owners web site:
"The C6 is almost perfect. Except for the cheap little ashtray plastic door that drops down from the smallest bump in the road. This started last week. It never did fit well. 22% of Vette Forum members has this. Yet no recalls for the $50k+ car. Dave Hill missed this detail.
What is Chevy doing about this?"

Dear Corvette Owner,
Thank you for your interest in the Chevrolet Corvette. We're very pleased that you're enjoying your car. We at General Motors take pride in building the world's finest automobiles.
Regarding your difficulty with the ashtray door, due to the cleaver way we designed it you must push it completely closed or it will exhibit the symptoms you described. If you need additional instructions on using your ashtray, please consult your owner's manual or your dealer.
Thank you for choosing Chevrolet.

My '06 stays closed and has not been opened for 2,000 miles since I brought it from Dearborn, MI to Austin, TX. But now that y'all brought this up and I went and tried opening and closing it, you may have jinxed it for me. I'll keep you posted if my situation changes.
But I would have to say, the coin slots are a bit useless - the minute I put some coins in those little slots and closed the door, the coins all fell back into the tray. I would have expected them to still be standing when I opened the door. Oh well...no problems reported here.
