Default C6 Dash discoloration

During the process of installing an aftermarket decal on the passenger side airbag, the dash became discolored (ie. streaked where cleaner ran down). I cleaned the dash with mineral spirits and alchol per the instructions. Now what do I do???? Help!

Never had this problem on the C5. Is the C6 material different?

Greetings

I believe the dash and door panels are coated with a semi gloss to reduce the shine. You will probably need to replace the dash panel.

For future reference, the expert who repaired a gash in my dash said I should just use a rag dampened with water to clean my dash. Then dry it.

Try a solution of half white vinegar & half water to clean the discoloration. Try it first in the most inconspicuous spot that is stained.

Indeed. I hate to be a downer, but that was probably not a good move on our modern materials. A little soap and water is a bout all I would use.

Does that mean you should never put any dressing on the dash and doors - such as Armor All or other products?

Thanks for the info.

Is this a fact or a complaint (as per the other thread)

Don't know about the doors. His advice was for the dash. He did say a lot of those products would dry it out.

As per the owner's manual:

Instrument Panel

Use only mild soap and water to clean the top surfaces
of the instrument panel. Sprays containing silicones
or waxes may cause annoying reflections in the
windshield and even make it difficult to see through the
windshield under certain conditions.

Interior Plastic Components

Use only a mild soap and water solution on a soft cloth
or sponge. Commercial cleaners may affect the
surface finish.

Why should the interior plastic on the C6s be any different [more delicate] than any other car in the world ???

Because it saves the General 10 cents a car to do it that way. Maybe things will change when Renault takes over.
