C6 with Hydro-Lock?????
My friend drive his 2006 Corvette in the rain (shame on him, I know) and was caught in a heavy downpour. While driving through a parking lot the car just died. It was towed to the nearest Chevy Service Center and was diagnosed as "The Engine is in HYDROLOCK and the warranty is voided. The water was sucked up through the air intake and got into the engine. The cost of repair was stated as anywhere from $10,000 - $15,000." Has anyone ever experienced this and if so what were the results? Thanks for your input.

Are you making up this so called "friend" story to try and ask what the chances of hydrolock with an aftermarket filter are, but are scared of being flamed?

Let's say the car has an aftermarket intake....warranty voided...but maybe you can fight it with a good lawyer.
STOCK CAR=WARRANTY!

Happened
to us with our C5.
Auto insurance covered it.
We had a Halltech at the time (Bottom Feeder), hence not covered by warranty.
Bill to insurance was close to 15K

Now, if the mod was clearly not a factor in the failure, and the stock part would certainly have failed in the same circumstance, no problem.

Smells like and some weenie trying to work up a few strangers. Glad to see many CF'ers not biting on this absolutely crap story from someone with their first ever CF post. I always love an intro that starts with "my friend drive".
TROLL ALERT for sure!

But in this case, if the car had a BF intake and that was the root cause of the failure, then the owner is SOL.
