what happened at the dealership good bad
bad
i went to east syracuse chevy in syarcuse ny, with the wife to buy a c6. they had one i would have tried to buy.
salesman came right out to help. i said we would like to see this vette. he said have at it.
i tried to open the drivers door but it was locked. i said to the salesman, the door is locked. he said oh. i repeated and he just shrugged his shoulders. i, not very nicely, told him what he could do with his car and dealership, he smiled and said thank you have a nice day!
so i called Hubler chevy in indpls in(900 miles away) told him what i wanted, within 2 hrs he sold me my c6! plus he was $2500 less than e syracuse chevy!
this was the 3rd time the wife and i went to e syr chev but the 1st time a salesman ever came over to us when we were looking at the vettes! they are getting better

Now, you need to drive your new car over to the dealership and introduce yourself to the Service Manager, and, on your way out, stop to show the salesman the new vehicle you purchased.

Congrats on the new ride

had similar reactions from multiple dealers in my area when i was looking at 2004 corvettes. my favorite story is when i called a dealer 40 miles away about looking at a c5 on his lot. i told him i would be over to see it and drive it. once i got there he must have asked me five times whether i was really, really serious about buying the car, or did i just want to go for a joy ride (not sure how many 50 year old guys would drive 40 miles to take a joy ride in a dealers corvette, but oh well...). after taking 20 minutes to get a plate on the car, he asked me again if i was serious. told him i did not need to buy a car from him (added some other wise crack, etc) and tried to leave. he stood right in front of my car to stop me, not understanding why i was upset. the end of the story is that i bought from a dealer 90 miles away that treated me properly.
i wouldn't waste any more energy on your dealer unless you want service there...

I got the run-around at a small dealership in Henderson, KY, once.
Thought a small[er] dealership would be easier to deal with, and when the unusually young, spirited General Sales Manager told me he already had a buyer for my '99 Camaro SS, I thought I had it made.
Wrong.
The young GSM assigned an idiot to find me a Corvette equipted as I wanted & I could see he wasn't real thrilled.
Obviously the jamoke thought it too much a PITA so after a brief time on his computer he essentially tells me to pick what he could find.
I walked.
Found the exact car at an Indiana dealership one week later & bought it.
One of the first places I stopped while out on an early Saturday morning cruise?
The small dealership.
As I drove-up all the sales guys were standing around outside smoking & joking, eager to serve.
So I politely asked one to go fetch the young GSM & away he ran.
When "Fish" came outside a few minutes later?
I extended my hand from the open window & asked, "Remember me?" He said he did.
I asked him how he liked my new Corvette to which he said it's beautiful.
Informed him I'd have bought from him, [i]IF[/u] I could've.
He asked why I didn't.
That's when I informed him his boy Mr. Peabody told me he couldn't find one like it, but I sure did & here it is.
Was the proverbial pregnant moment, I bid him adue.
Wished I'd had a pic of the expression on his face as he abruptly turned to go back inside, (presumably do some serious reeming), it was priceless.
Man I sure wished I'd more chances to do the same thing with the lousy service providers I've endured in my life like that one.

The first dealership I and the wife (aka the finance officer) went to (local-10 minutes from the front door) had 1 maxed out C6 yellow convertable in stock (5000 trucks in stock, but only 1 Corvette). The one saleman who bothered to acknowledge our existance had no idea what other C6's were coming in (if any) or when they were due to arrive. Happiness was them in our rearview mirror!!
The next afternoon we went to a dealership about 75 miles away (Rick Hendricks in Cary, NC) and had a completely different experience. They had a dozen or so Corvettes parked outside (all varieties/options). The salesman introduced himself, asked me what I was looking for (I wasn't sure exactly) so he stayed with me, answered my questions honestly (even the ones I knew the answers to), and let me test drive a couple of their selections. Then he turned me and my wife loose to tool around the immediate area in the C6 we eventually decided on. Once I had decided on the particular model, we haggled for about 2 hours, settled on a price after they threw in a couple of freebies, and we left that night about 10:00pm, ON A SUNDAY!!
The car had previously been prepped for another customer but the deal fell through. I brought it back two weeks later for the accessory items to be installed (wheels/Z06 spoiler) they included in the deal.
They (not GM) followed up on the sale with a phone call from their customer service rep (nice lady) and another call from my salesman. I received another call after the visit to their service department. So far, I have no complaints.
So far....

I had a great experience with Rick Hendrick Chevy in Durham, NC (sister dealer of Hendrick Chevy in Cary, NC, where I live). They did GMID on a custom order, and everything went as smooth as could be. The store in Cary would not accept my GIMD, and would not order a car for me, instead only letting me purchase what they had in inventory, and at a price about $2K higher than what I ended up paying. Really a shame.

Stay away from Cormier in Long Beach, CA. they treat you like a king before you buy it and like a dog after. The worst dealership I dealt with in the 10+ cars I bought in my life.
I basically got a 06 that has more then its share of problems. After re-building the transmission at 2500 miles, changing the steering wheel column, Noise from the rear end, breaks that won’t stop squalling and a roof that below off I called GM to see what I can do to replace this car, maybe a buyback since it only has 4100 miles. Well, they sent me to the dealership that basically told me it’s not their problem that GM built me a car with bad parts and after all the problems this car had why would they want to buy it back. I never got rude with them I just wanted them to help me work with GM to get this resolved as I was without a car 30+ days since I owned it (7 months) and now it does not have a roof so I am out for another 6-8 weeks. They got real rude and had no desire to help me what so ever. At one point they told me that they really didn’t make that much money on my car so they wont spend anything to accommodate me. I paid MSRP but they bought it from a different dealer so they paid more then they normally do. Like that is my problem. Stay away…!
Maybe we should start a Thread that will black list dealers that treat us badly. We set some rules where you need to have 3 or more bad submissions and they get blacklisted. That way we help our bothers (and sisters) from getting hurt. What are your thoughts?
Maybe if a dealer knows that he can get blacklisted by loyal corvette owners they will start treating us like we deserve…!
Can I get someone to second me on this?
NOTE: i do not service the car in this dealership so i have no comments on their service, only the sales/business side.

So If we go by a majority the dealer would be blacklisted and I would not have the good experiences I've had, if I were new and didn't know the dealer as I do. You can get a bad salesman anywhere or a good salesman on a bad day. Does that really mean the dealer is always 100% bad... I don't think so IMO.
