Default Invisicord Connectors

I installed my Invisicord earlier and it looks great (need to fix my mirror cam thing now though). Only question I have is how far do the Invisicord pins go into the mirror? They went in about half way and I didn't want to force it but I want to make sure it is tight before I fix my mirror so I don't have to take it off again. I did a search but couldn't find any info on the Invisicord pins.

one of mine went all the way in (black) and the yellow went halfway.I just pulled the wire bundle out of the back of the mirror.. was real easy to do that way

Did the "half way" one fall out or anything or had it stayed. I havn't taken the harness off as the pins are in, just doesn't feel tight.

I've had several of their cords and some do not come with the leads squashed flat. They should be very flat then they seat all the way. I used a vise to get them flat. I think they need to work on their quality control.....

Is it easier to put it in on the top, side, or does it matter. Ill try flattening it once I get my bracket. Get it all hooked up at once.

Guys,

If a pin won't go all the way in, pull it out and try a different side of the wire hole. You will find at least one of the four sides where the invisicord pin will go all the way in.

Thank you for posting this hint. There is actually quite a bit more error tolerance in the harnesses than in my pins. If they are too thin, they will just slide out. They need to be a bit thicker to make a snug connection, but this does mean that you have to find that "sweet" spot around the factory wire, one of four sides. If pressure is applied to the wire it should open up a slightly larger gap for the connector. I do supply zip ties to allow you to put constant pressure on the cord using the factory wiring so that 1) they don't fall out if you have a harness that has tightly OE crimped connectors vs looser ones, and 2) If your detector mount gives way, it should hang from the zip tie, not from the connectors. 24-26 gauge wire won't hold alot of swinging weight!

the cord from the detector goes straight to the back of the mirror for power....different lengths available depending on where you mount it....

I'm wondering the same thing. I just picked up my c6 and am looking to put a radar detector into it, but want it to look "clean" and not have cords all over. I guess this is the way to do it?

Valentine told me that the cord they use is simply an RJ-11 telephone cord.

Does anyone have a problem with the mirror "bouncing" up and down on rough roads. I have an escort and when I am really WOT the radar will switch settings or dim the display. When I hold slightly the top of the detector it really stops the shaking. I am thinking of getting a foam ball or something to put between the radar and the braket to take up the tolerance. Any thoughts

Here is my V1 setup, visor mount, driver's side:

Look right above the up directional arrow on the V1, and you will see a clear vinyl bumper that I stuck on the mount. 3/8" in thickness, adhesive on one side, package of 9 costs $1.69 at Home Depot. I have 8 left, PayPal me $2, and I'll ship you a couple...
