Planning on doing the oil tomorrow...

No help to you, but I've changed oil in my cars a million times and I never used a torque. I just tightened it, never had a problem.

Use a drain valve!

When tightening drain plugs, I've always grabbed the ratchet with the head in my palm. It always seems to give me the right amount of force.

On my C6, I've installed a Fumoto drain plug with drain nipple.

I was taught in high school to do just like Easyrider13 said, tighten using the ratchet in your palm, so you are not adding leverage with the ratchet handle. Always worked for me.
