Default Firing order of C6 vs C5

Does anyone know if the firing order of the C5 and C6 is the same
or were they changed with the C6?

Thank you in advance

Don't have the link right here in front of me, but someone posted a couple of days ago that they're the same.

Since there are many camshafts that will work in either the LS1 or the LS2, I would be induced to conclude that the firing orders were the same for the C5 and C6 V-8 engines.

Don't know the C5 firing order but the C6 is 1, 8, 7, 2, 6, 5, 4, 3.

I must be getting senile, took me 45 Minutes to find the firing order. It's not in the owners manual and not in the index of the shop manual. I finally found it on page 6-422 Vol. 1 of the shop manual.

The shop manual is not user friendly.

And that firing order, handed down to Moses, sometime in late 1954, is the same one used in all small block Chevies since then. I almost tattooed them on my wrist during my first autoshop class in 1961.

The firing order changed with the third and fourth gen small blocks (LS1 LS6 LS2 and LS7) to 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 vs. the 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 used on the older small blocks since 1955. That is the main reson the exhaust note sounds like sheet compared to the older engines.

In the beginning, I think Moses handed down 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 to the builders of the small block and told the to go forth and multiply... It wasn't untill the third comming of the small block that those numbers were revised...

I've heard that here before, but I do not understand why. Can any one explain why a change in the firing order changes the exhaust note? Thanks.
