Locked myself out today
I was at the driving range, put my keys in the golf back. Hit ***** for 2 hours. Went to the car and popped the trunk with the button by the plate. Threw my bags in and shut the trunk. Then I walked over to the door and it would not open. I have had it not open a few times before so I thought nothing of it. Then I realized, oh $hit.
I thought as long as the FOB was close to the car it would not lock you out. I guess I was wrong. Luckily the wife was home and drove over.
Anyone else ever do this?

I did the exact same thing coming from the driving range. Cell phone in the golf back too.
My problem was compounded by the fact I leave my spare FOB and car key at home and my spare house keys in the car. Also, NO WIFE at home!
Holy Crap Batman, what now?
OnStar to my rescue. Borrowed a cell phone from the marshal to call and was in the car in 3 minutes. I'll be renewing that service...

Always keep the keys/fob in your pants pocket. You have done this with every other car you owned. This throwing things in the hatch because of a fob system is nothing more than driver stupidiity over a new system. If the key/fob is on your person things like that cannot/will not happen!

People can't relate well to the new technology and don't appreciate its limits intuitively.

My wife's Acura RL won't let you shut the trunk with a keyfob in it. It prevents this problem, but we can't lock her purse in the trunk without first removing her key ring.

I no longer have my car programmed for auto lock. Auto unlock, yes, but auto lock has been more of a nuisance for me than a convenience. I now just lock the car with the fob. That way, there's no way I can have it lock me out if I do something stupid....which is always a possibility.

I picked my car up at the NCM. When we spent the first night in a motel, I read the manual. Bright and early next morning I did away with the auto lock feature. When I want it locked I do it myself.
