Default Hide A Key -- How And Where ??

I would like to fasten a key under the car so I only need to carry the FOB.

Where is it best to hide and how would you fasten it?

Thanks

Thinking the same myself recently and would be interested in a good location too. Was thinking of taping the key with 3M VHB double sided tape behind the rear license plate, otherwise its the magnetic key holder.

What about just putting the hard key in your wallet? I took my hard key, cut off the thick plastic part, and now the key is dead flat... fits nicely inside my wallet, don't even know it's there. It stays in my wallet all the time for whenever I might need it.

If we tell you where we hide our key everyone will know. Just kidding. I keep mine in my pocket next to my fob and always make sure its there before I close the doors.

I was thinking of where to hide a key for the last month. Keeping a key in my wallet won't work (too many cars), and not a whole lot of flat, freeous metal surfaces for a magnetic key box to stick (the Z06 has an aluminum frame). I have a magnetic box and I'm thinking of using heavy duty velcro to attach it to some inner body panel. I imagine tryling to break into a C6 with a slim jim would be totally fruitless as the door opening mechanism is electronic, not mechanical.

I did once with my Porsche key and forgot then about it. In going through security at the airport, it set off the alarm. They checked me over thoroughly and could not find the problem for several minutes. Usually I just shed myself of all metal objects and normally you don't have a metal object in your wallet. So it is easy to forget that you have the metal key stub in your wallet.

I spend a fair amount of time in the ocean, and therefore can't carry my wallet. I hide a key on all my vehicles in the event someone were to steal my gear bag off the beach (never happened yet).

With the Corvette, I used duct tape to secure a key to the XXXXXXXXXXXX. A spare FOB is hidden in the car with its battery removed.

Remove the key's plastic head before taping, and it will be easier to secure.

Well I have seen that location in print about 8 times now. I would find a better place and not tell anyone about it.

I think its possible to have a long device and hook the emeregency door opening device on the floor. Its my guess not a fact, but think its possible.

In my younger days I worked at a gas station and we were quite able to open most cars out there with many sorts of metal devices.
A bent oil dip stick got us into a lot of cars.
A piece of brazing rod can work wonders. Its 3 foot long stiff and can be bent in many working shapes, bet that can open a C6.

I am not at all concerned about having my '07 stolen. I had my new '67 427 vert stolen in '68 which really hurt my feelings. But to be honest, a C6 to me isnt anywhere close to my heart as was my C2. Actually my only concern is being able to get into my C6 to start the car as I already have had a few low battery issues. I got Priority Start hooked up, but you still need to get into the car! Anyways, I found a new place, taped inside the FRONT XXXXXXXXXXXX

... I also keep mine with my fob...as I hate to have bulky items in my pants pockets, it makes a darn handy way of "clipping" my fob to my belt.

I just insert it between my belt and pants waist and voila', it is secured. The length of the key itself keeps it in place.

And I don't get anymore of the dreaded "No Fob Found" messages on my DIC...

magnetic hide-a-key underneath the car just behind the right front. Even if someone found it they probably wouldn't know what to do with it and even if they found out how to open the trunk and the doors they still couldn't start it and I don't leave anything inside my car worth stealing.

How about this key safe?

Considering is not in Griot's typical red color , not bad! Then again, not sure you need a combo lock since even with the key found, they cant drive off with it without the FOB. Think I going to get

Our local locksmith sells a Hide-A- Key black nylon pouch that sticks to anything under the car with industrial strength adhesive velcro. Mine had been in place a year now. No sign of loosening.
