Default Z51 vs. Standard Model

I am new to Corvett's.

I am looking to purchase a C6 Coupe and am looking for advice. Does the Z51 package make a big difference in the ride and handling of the car? Any advise would be appreciated.

yes. i opt'd for a base, non-z51, and my first upgrades are replacing stock pieces for z51 parts. bigger brakes, more coolers, better suspension. the f55 is also something to look at. there is a sticky in the forum discussing both of these.

Please read the sticky with Z51 in the title. Too many people here get ballistic when discussing the Z51 handling package. There have been dozens of threads here on the subject and nearly every one of them got locked.

Z51 is fairly nice upgrade. Better and tighter handling. Ride remains acceptable unless your roads are the worst. If performance is your goal, go Z51.

I have had both, and prefer the "tighter" handling of the Z51 setup.
Turn in seems a tad more crisp and the feeling at speed is confident inspiring.

You need to try to experience both setups if you can. The ride is definately NOT punishing, just stiffer, especially over potholes and speed bumps.................

Here you go - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1586982. Good luck sorting through the noise. So I figure here's the best way to show you. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words and opinions

Z51 equipped entering turn 12 at Road America (enter at 125 MPH and brake down to 70 MPH hit apex in 3rd gear and accelerate on to next turn and repeat until your face hurts from smiling)

I had warned my wife that the Z51 would not ride like a Cadillac. We picked it up at the museum and I didn't say anything. A few days later she said "I thought you said it wasn't going to ride like a Cadillac". I agree it doesn't ride like a Cadillac but it's not a bad riding car either. I would do it again.
