Wal-Mart Oil Change?
I have a new 2007 Coupe with about 4,000 miles on the odometer. I am ready to get my first oil change.
I am thinking about taking it to the Wal-Mart autocenter. Now, before you slay me about taking a Corvette to Wal-Mart for an oil change, let me tell you the following: I drove my 2001 Coupe for 92,634 miles before selling it and all but the first few oil changes were performed at Wal-Mart.
I originally took it to two different dealers for the first few oil changes, but I was not satisfied, they took too long and made a mess of my car by spilling oil in the engine bay.
I used Mobil 1 fully-synthetic 5w30 on my C5. What should I use on the 2007, and is there anyting that is unique/unusual about the C6 that would make me taking it to Wal-mart a bad idea?

I used to take an old F150 to Walmart for oil changes, but stopped that after they stripped the treads in the oil pan...which had to be replaced. I'd be there supervising if you feel confident enough to take it there. Good luck!

Gee, doesn't it says Mobil 1 5W-30 on that big plug where you put the oil in the top of the engine?
Oh, you just want to open up another 'what oil should I use' topic. And see the Royal Purple, Red Line, etc, etc belivers come out and pitch their product. And throwing in the Walmart item to just stir the pot some more.

My question is....who owns a 50k corvette but wants to use Wally World for an oil change? Is the risk worth the 10 bucks you save by using Wal Mart?????????? How does the hiring process work? You go in for an interview and the manager asks if you have any special skills.....You say I have a car....ahhhhhhhhhh we have the perfect job for you. Mechanic. No thanks.

So what's wrong with WalMart? I actually got my Vette at WalMart! True story: I bought my '05 vert on line, and had it shipped. The delivery truck was too big to access my driveway, so I told the driver to meet me in the WalMart parking lot...lots of room (see avitar). So now, every time my wife and I drive by WalMart, we say "...there's where we got our first vette..." But I would never have the oil changed there!

Even 'experienced' shops will sometimes screw up and break something.
I have my wife take her car to Wal-Mart when I don't have the time to do the work myself (or just don't care to) but it's a 97t-bird. I would NEVER take my Vette there. I'm too **** about the Vette and I'd have to see the work being done, or do it myself.

I wouldn't even leave my vette in a WalMart parking lot much less have one of those people tough it!! My local WalMart resembles the Bar Scene in StarWars... all sorts of interesting looking people in there!
