I've got my center console apart but cannot figure out how to remove the cigarette lighter socket from the console.

Any ideas or suggestions???

Look inside the lighter socket, there's two holes in them across from eachother. Get a pocket screwdriver or something and push on the tabs insde the holes while pushing the lighter with your hands from the backside.
I hope that makes sense.
