i think the pop ups should stay unless they go with a lemans style (c3) that look good... but lets not have a 3rd gen camaro (they look good but arent a vette)

I voted to keep the pop-up's, we've had them on Vettes since '63! Design them in some way to minimize the turbulence caused by the design, but KEEP them!

I hope Corvette engineers step up to the plate and offer non pop-up headlamps with an HID Xenon lighting system like those found on BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc.
The Viper is going to have HID headlamps in 2003, why can't the Vette.
There is a big complaint on the quality and the amount of light that comes from a stock C5's headlamp system.

Yep...it always amazes me how auto companies will spend millions developing a super fast, responsive sports car, only to put horrible lights on it. At least BMW has their priority straight in this area.
I second HID lamps, which necessarily means fixed headlamps under US law.

Ditch 'em! The solid axle car didn't have 'em & they look pretty good.
Pop up air brakes suck! The lines of the car are ruined with the lights up.

Since 1963, retractable lights (or air brakes) have been a staple of the Corvette. I generally don't drive 180 mph at night, so I see no need to change for aerodynamic purposes. I vote the air brakes STAY.

Bye bye pop ups! It's the third millenium, time for a little change. That way the twilight sentinel isn't such a PITA...

I say keep, them they are a tradition to the corvette now, besides if you do so much night racing that you are worried over popup lights decreasing aerodynamic efficiency you are a sick freak anyways.

I have an idea that I think would please everyone. Why not have retractable fiberglass plates that slide back at night to reveal the headlights. That way, the Vette would keep its daytime look and then have a more sleeker, night look, without the pop-up headlights.

Why not offer an option? There are aftermarket kits for the C5 that look fine and fit in the stock openings. Let the buyer decide. Personally, I like the C4 design that rotate 180 degrees. Those look so freaking cool when you turn them on.
