Default Caravaggio offers Targa Top for Z06, see inside for price..

May be a dup, apologize if so. So while traveling this weekend, I was reading one of my Corvette magazines on the plane and came across an article about Caravaggios new Z06 targa roof option. They have been through all the engineering trial and errors and have come up with a design for the Z06 that allows it to have a targa top, but not at such an affordable price. They are currently on their 10th order and my question for everyone is, would you pay $11,500 to get a targa top for your Z06?

I came very close to buying a Caravaggio Targa that one of the local specialty dealers had for sale. I really like the look of the car and have always heard great things about the company. But when I looked under the car and saw the big X brace and how it was bolted in with the brace and bolt hanging down below the frame by about 3/4 of an inch I decided to pass. I think it would make a great weekend car if you are not going to put a lot of miles on it...but, my Corvette is a daily driver. I was sure that at some point I would catch those bolts on a speed bump and reaaaalllly do some damage.

If you are willing to pay $11,500 to add weight, take away from handling and void your warranty just to have a Targa, why would you. For $11,500 you could add a supercharger, exhaust and a widebody conversion to a coupe!

I don't have a Z06 b/c of reasons like the targa and there's no way I'd pay it either, but thought I'd see if others felt the same.

Ban this guy, he's making too much sense. I just went through this thought process and ended up buying the Z anyways. You can't discount the suspension work on the Z either.

Regardless, no mods for me, must remain stock for the SS class.

:spew:

Is it the fricking 25th yet?
Hell yeah it's staying stock. Why the hell do you think I upgraded from a C6 to a C6 Z06?? The only way I'm going to beat the two kingpins at the autocross track is to show up with another 105 HP and racing rubber, and yet be able to still run super stock. I cannot wait to see the look on their faces.

Does anyone else other than me think it's crazy to spend that kind of money on a targa top for the Z06 when it would be a lot cheaper to simply add the widebody kit to a coupe (that already has the targa top obviously), as well as adding a supercharger (or heads/cam), and then you'd have an even higher horsepower car for thousands less!

Exactly.

Doesn't make much sense when you can beat a Z06 with what you want all over.
