Default What happens to unsold new Corvettes?

I've always wondered what happens to those Poor Corvettes that arrive at a Dealership and sit there unsold, and continue to sit unsold well into the next model year?

E.G. 2007's that are currently at Dealers remaining unsold well into 2008.

Are they sent back to GM (to be destroyed)? Shipped all over the country hoping someone will buy them? Or do they just sit there waiting for a buyer?

They eventually get sold. GM doesn't take them back, the dealer is stuck with it.

I thought you might be the person that answered. Thank You.

Certainly Kerbeck is rarely left with unsold Corvettes, right?

At the end of the '04 model year, I could have bought an unwanted base '04 Z06 for about 33 grand! ($10k off + $10k GM owner loyalty rebate, if I remember correctly). Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

I passed to wait for the C6 but somebody stole that car.

Somtimes, it's really hard to say. Last spring, they came out with incentives for 2006s. Right now, there's nothing on the 2007s.

We almost never have leftovers. In fact, we had 2 2007s going into October this year which is very rare for us. They're gone now, but we usually have them all gone by September.

Man guys, you're killing me here. This reminds me of the "Island of Misfit Toys" from the "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" cartoon.

Dealer sends them to crusher. Dealer normally charges $100 per person to watch. Some dealers tack on a premium "watch fee" of $10,000.

It amazes me with the cost of floor planning any dealer would still have an 06. Do they think they are going to age like wine and become more valuable? I'd drop the price 500 bucks every week until it was gone! You are simply losing more money the longer the car sits around so just keep dropping the price until sold............

Fat fingers is a symptom of lots of 'oh ****' wheel time in the seat of a Corvette.

My local dealer has had 3 07 verts on the showroom floor since July (VR, VY, and Indy Pace Car). Now they have a 2008 JSBlue and an Artic White coupe with no where to put them! I'll bet they would do some dealing on the 07's...

Gene...

I think your memory is a bit off.. I purchased one with all the EOY discounts and such for $41K which was 12K off sticker.. Sold it two years later for $39.5K
No way was a new Z06 selling for 33K..

The Dallas paper has car dealer ads showing nice discounts on 07's regularly, lately.

I tend to agree. A local dealer just recently advertised they were getting their first Z06 of the year - a 2007. No price in the ad but, knowing this dealer, they will sell it fairly quickly for $10 over MSRP. Get out in the country where demand is high and supply is low and these old cars will easily pay for the time they might have sat on a dealers lot waiting for a sucker who never showed up.
