Spare Key DONE!!!
Ok so I decided to go ahead and try and get a spare key made to keep in my wallet, did a search on here and found only one thread that listed the Blank needed for the spare...so I went to Ace Hardware and got it made. Make sure you call ahead and make sure they have the correct blank for it, it is a HILLMAN B106-PH. It looks wide at first but after they cut both sides of the key its just perfect, tried it out on the hatch and it worked. Here are the pics of the keys...
Here's a closeup of the blank head...HILLMAN B106-PH
Here's a pic of the FOB Key and the spare
Full pic of the spare key
Pic of the spare key with the plastic head removed
Pic of the plastic head itself after removed
I went ahead and taped the key to the back of my Onstar card...that way it wont fall out of my pocket and I'll know where it is in case i need it.
Cost was like $2.99 at local Ace Hardware...to get the plastic off, I put the key in the oven at 250 degrees for 20 minutes...the plastic did not burn or smoke so don't worry about messing up the kitchen. Took the key out with some vice grips, got a utility knife and gave it two swipes, cutting parallel with the key starting from the bottom and going up towards the top, with the second swipe the whole plastic top came off, no big mess or anything. So there you have it...cheap insurance if you ask me...

Thanks, I'm going to do this.
It's a better idea to keep your spare key in a Hide-A-Key Magnetic holder than in your wallet.
That way you can't lock your wallet and your key in the car.
