Default Detailing Your Engine

How many of you when detailing your car go into the engine compartment and do the engine as well?

Here is mine after I did my VMax Motorsports Ported Intake install.

Took someones advise and painted the yellow oil dipstick handle black.

Glad you went with a black dipstick...takes 5 seconds and looks 100% better.

Floyd, thanks it was your post that made me paint the yellow dipstick handle black, much better in appearance.

I figured it was

It's a great, cheap under-hood mod that most people seem to overlook or spend more money on than is necessary with a billet piece or something.

The next free thing I would recommend doing is peeling off the sticker next to the intake and then cleaning it up from any residue that is left.

Do you use anything special to detail the engine compartment?

Actually the big secret is to not let the engine get dirty, every other time I wash my car I wipe the engine down and at least once a month I will use Meguiars Trim Detailer to wipe the covers and the intake to get a nice shine, I like the Meguiars as it does not build up and get sticky. I do the hoses and use a brush to get into some of the tight places. When I get lazy I use a California Duster to get the film of dust off of the engine.

Floyd, got it on the label removal. Thanks again...good cheap mods which makes the engine look a lot cleaner.

Was this a ported throttle body? If so, what difference have you noticed?

Very nice.

I "clean" mine, but have not detailed it yet. When I wash the car I rinse the engine with spot free water and keep a good coat of rejex on the FRC.

I also just painted my fugly dipstick gloss black. Good tip
