Default 12,000 mile dealer check up?

My 05 Vert is approaching 12,000 miles . Dealer suggested check-up . What do they check & what can I expect it to cost?

They check your wallet. Seriously, I would not spend my money on a 12,000 mile checkup.

at 12000 miles your car is still under warranty. if it aint broke dont fix it.if it is broke have gm fix it for free. spend your money on wine woman or song because life is short. the dealer will most likely do more damage than good at your expense. by the time my vehicles are out of warranty the are as good or better then new because i am relentless about warranty work. if u report it to a dealer while it is under warranty they must fix it or they are liable for ever. 12000 mile check i thought was free but if it isnt forget about it. u test drive it every day so why let some greasy fingered peon drive it for u.

They are trying to get you to spend money ever 3-6k that is not needed. Most GM cars now use the maintenance 1 and maintenance 2 schedules. Maintenance one is basically an oil change and tire rotation. The 2nd one is more like a check up (but not very through). I'll bring my car in when it has about 5-10% on the oil life monitor UNLESS I'm about to take a big road trip.

They keep sending me tire rotation coupons. What a hoot. They also have a Mopar store and when I had my Prowler they offered me tire rotations as well.

Save your money.

There are some checks that need to be made every 25K miles, but you can probably do them yourself. See your 2005 owner's manua, page 6-6. Here are the extras that are supposed to be done at the first 25K.

Inspect fuel system for damage or
leaks.
Inspect exhaust system for loose or
damaged components.

I personally feel that the majority of the 'inspect this and that' maintenance items you can do yourself and save the money.

If it were me, I would go in and ask the dealer to show me (not just tell me) what maintenance items are on the list for the 12,000 mile check-up.
