Ultimate Radar Detectors

This is one of those debates that will not likely ever be settled. There are two very good brands of radar detectors out there. Valentine 1 and Escort. Either will likely get you what you want. For me, no substitute for Valentine One and the benefit of the directional arrows. You can find info here:

Frankly, at the end of this thread a lot of good information will be tossed out. A lot of strong arguments for either or and you still won't have any idea which one to buy.

Here is a link to a recent, objective test of all major radar detectors. Scroll down to the bottom for the charts that clearly show the Valentine One is the best detector.

The Corvette is one powerful car and as one of the members here points out, with great power comes great responsibility. Gotta be in the game every minute. This is one of the reasons I like the HUD. I also rely on Mr. Valentine's engineering.

Sweet .... any problems with laser detection attenuation through the darkened upper portion of the windscreen? I've got OnStar and the box is tucked right up there to the right of the rear view mirror where it looks like your V1 detector is.
When you get the remote installed either send me an email with pictures or post the pics. I also can't quite tell how you've got the V1 detector attached to the visor, how you routed the wires to the to fuse box and what kind of attachment device you used when you tapped into the seat heater fuse. Any help there would be appreciated.

Mine is on driver's side visor using stock V1 clip. I have the "invisicord" connected to the inside rearview mirror.

The detector is mounted to the visor using the standard visor clip that came with the unit. The visor is pulled down slightly to level the unit. If you look closely at my photo, you'll see a little rolled up piece of black velcro, which keeps the visor in position.
The wire just snakes up into a crack where I pressed it into position with simple finger pressure. It goes inside the trim down the A pillar (also placed with just finger pressure). The whole setup is virtually invisible.
The connection in my photo that serves the V1 is at the top (red wire). The white wire you see and the lower red wire are connections for the Mild 2 Wild switch for the optional NPP exhaust on the '08 coupe, so don't let them confuse you on you installation.
The fuse tap is called a a Littelfuse Add-A-Circuit (FHM200BP). I got mine from Pep Boys online after a difficult search online, but it appears they no longer stock the item. I found this link at the Littlefuse website and it lists two sources:
http://krdev.littelfuse.com/stockche...logNo=FHM200BP
The beauty of using the Add-A-Circuit is that it allows the standard fuse to operate as it was intended, while adding an additional circuit.
Others have said they got the item at their local Auto Zone store. Good luck on your installation and let me know if this isn't clear enough!
I'll post the remote installation pics once it's completed.
