Vert trunk lid hard to open
My 06 vert trunk lid sticks and I usually have to hit the release a bunch of times before it pops up enough to open. Its worse when its cold. Sometimes when it’s real bad I have to try and pull the lid up and hit the button at the same time. Does anybody know how to adjust this? I live in the middle of nowhere and don’t want to have the local dealer that’s probably never even changed the oil on a C6 try to figure it out. I tried searching the forum but only came up with threads related to vert trunks with problem closing and not being flush or needing to be slammed to latch. I don’t have a problem closing it. I just bring it down gently, engage the first part of the latch, then give it a quick firm push right over the latch to close it.
Thanks

Not sure on the C6, since i have a coupe now but on my C5 a little WD-40 did the trick after spraying on the latch mechanism. There is a guy on the C5 forum that sells a spring that you can attach under a screw in the lip of the trunk but again I am not sure if that application applies to the C6.

Doesn't pop up high enough to grab sometimes. My gas lid door does it too, I have to pop the button while trying to fiddle with the door at the same time.

As far as closing goes, I had my "female" latch assy. replaced under warranty. This includes the carpet. The plastic oval part became deformed and hindered the male part from having trunk lock sex.

Same here. The left side opens but the right has to be fooled with. Can't figure out why since the latch is in the center. I tried adjusting the two posts that you can screw up/down. That didn't help.

05 Coupe here and have the same problem. There have been a few days where the weather was above 65 and it worked pretty good. Any colder and it wont pop up. I think it might be the gas shocks on the door because I lubed the latch and the "trunk lock sex" works fine and adjusted the stops. Anyone know if those gas shocks for the hatch are affected by the weather/temperature?

...again, I'm not sure if this will work for the C6 but it is worth a try

Same here... Just had my car in the shop to replace the sticking piston that releases the gas door and the emergency gas door release cable in the trunk, because it broke from me pulling/ yanking on it one cold night when I was down to an eight of a tank and was at a gas station trying to fill it up... I had to use a screw driver draped with a towel to pry the door open! Damn winter!

No one has responded as to whether or not this will solve the problem. Again, it works great on the C5 (since I used to have a c% vert). Can anyone say whether or not the C6 is configured the same way or if this is a possible remedy to the problem. Please see the following post

It should work. The link to the C5 popper no lomger does though. Looks like I am heading to the hardware store this weekend. Tired of messing with the trunk lid. The only changes I would make is a little locktight on the threads and a small washer if possible.

I was hoping that somebody had already gone through this and resolved it, but it sounds like everybody is like me and has been just living with it.
I don't have a problem with my gas lid. Filling up with the NJ emisssions gas pumps is a PITA since they constantly trip like the tank is full even when its not. Then I need to hold the stupid accessory button for 10 seconds to turn on the ignition, but not the car, so that the gas guage reads correctly to see if the tank is full or not. But thats a different problem.
It's stupid things like this that give Corvettes a bad rap when compared to other cars of the same cost.

In the northern N.J. area, not to mention NY and LI, there must be many Chevrolet dealers and some independents who routinely work on Corvettes. At worst, try Kerbeck in Atlantic City. This is a problem that should be covered by the GM warranty.
