2007 A6: Clicking in shifter when brake pedal is pressed....
I finally got a chance to start and drive my 2007 'vert today, and I noticed something I had never heard/noticed before: when the car is in park (it doesn't do it when it is in gear) and the brake pedal is pressed, there is a pretty loud "click" from the shifter area. I assume it is the "lock" that allows the shifter to move once the pedal is depressed, but anyone know why it would be so loud? I can literally "feel" it in the shifter ****. It will shift fine once it is out of park, no noticeable difference except for the noise.
The click can be heard twice in every "cycle", once when the brake pedal reaches a certain point going down, and at the same point coming back up.
The car runs and drives fine, and is otherwise perfect, but this has me (mildly) concerned, I really really really don't want it's first trip of 2008 to be to the dealer, lol.
Any ideas? Anyone have any experience with this happening? Could it be some kind of solenoid going/gone bad?
Thanks, Shawn

This is the real reason. I just installed a DSVette shifter boot in my 2008 with auto trans. In seeing the mechanism in action, when you get ready to start your car and push on the brake, this releases a locking mechanism that will allow you to shift out of PARK. Even with the vette running, unless you step on the brake, the relay will not allow you to shift out of PARK. The mechanism right under the shift boot is causing this noise...perfectly normal.

Some are louder than others - but normal.
