Can a 4 yr old ride safely in front seat
ok my kid has now moved from a car seat to a booster seat. I am a totally idiot when it comes to child care safety.
I really want a vette and prices are getting really good.
Is there a passenger airbag off switch.
Is it safe for a kid to rid in front seat in a booster seat. What are other concerns or things i should know about.
Otherwise I will have to get a small back seat sports car.

Just put the seat back all the way. The airbag won't hit him anyway if he is properly restrained. People worry about the safety of small kids in a Corvette but then they'll load up their extremely top heavy SUV with all of them.

My 16 month old grandson and my 29 month old granddaughter ride with me. Of course not at the same time. The boy outweighs the girl by a pound at 30 lbs and neither trips the air-bag sensor switch on the seat. Neither child can reach the switch for the heated seats something that my son was able to reach in my sister's 745 BMW and in the process scorched the dove grey leather seats. The seat ended up looking like a used ironing board pad, nice mustard like color. You would have thought the Bimmer would have some sort of sensor to cut off the juice to the seat if it got too hot. BMW paid to replace the upholstery.

I have my 6 y/o daughter in it once. I will take her more often when she gets out of the booster seat. I dont like those things digging into my seats.
BTW she loves the vette!

I found if you pull the seat belt all the way out it turns on the rachet lock mechanism full time as opposed to only locking when braking hard. I have never put any small children in my vette but this might be good information for some. This feature is also explained in the owners manual. I know alot of people dont read the manual but in the case of a precious child it is probably worth taking the time.

In the 2005 there is a switch in the glove compartment. 2006 on there is a weight sensor in the passenger seat. The airbag is only enabled if there is more than (IIRC) 70 lbs on the seat.

I have read that you can use the lap belt only across the top of the seat as long as there is not more than 1" of movement. When I put the seat in the car, I always make darn sure the child seat is tight. The seat has no movement when it is installed as in the photo.
