Default Rain-X on Glass

I have used Rain-X for about 25 years.

First thing I have done to every car I have owed.

seeing who else uses it.

Anybody used another product like it that have used both.

IMO, Rejex works at least as well as RainX and it's good for other things like wheels and even the whole car. RainX is single purpose.

I tried it on another car and don't like it. It makes a blinding glare on the windshield when passing under streetlights. I stopped using it after the first coat wore off.

Actually, I'm not sure the Rain-X doesn't work a little better for the first few days. But RejeX outlasts it by months.

The glare on the windshield is unacceptable. If you must use a windshield product Rejex is much better and much more versatile.

I've used Rain-X in the past, but I use RejeX now. RejeX lasts far longer and I just apply it to the windshield when I do the rest of the car.

Don't use, and do not use any other product other than a glass cleaner.

I never had a problem with either product. I use RainX or Rejex, whatever is on the shelf at WalMart when I need another bottle.

IMO, the best combination is one of the products above with silicon blade wipers.

If I recall, RainX tells you to avoid getting it on the paint?..I'd never get that stuff close to my car's paint.

I have a 4mil clear plastic protective sheet on my windshield. This is similar to, but not the same product, as the clear bras put on the painted area. Protects from chips & cracks as well as beading-up the water pretty good.

Those of you getting glare and streaking: be sure you're using a few drops of water when buffing the RainX off. It helps to remove the product better. It says this on the bottle, but most people neglect to read it.

My results with it increased substantially once I started doing that.

I don't use Rain-X because it uses an acid to microscopically etch the glass in order for the silicone to adhere.

I use either Rejex instead and/or a quick detail spray like Adam's. I also replace my wiper inserts once a year.

See my previous post as to the reason why you don't want it near your car's paint.

Anybody have an issue with Rain X pitting the glass over a period of time? I have heard reasons vary from acid rain to . . . .

Just curious.

I used Rain-X for about 15 years but tried Rejex on the C6. Rejex seemed to cause more glare in a light mist so I went back to Rain-X. Rejex DOES last a lot longer. Rejex IS safer since you can spill it on the finish with no harm done. Rejex might even work better in heavy rain. But I prefer Rain-X on the windshield. All the other windows and mirrors have Rejex.
