Default First Vet... thoughts on this deal?

Been in love with the Yellow C6 ever since I laid eyes on the C6-R. Anyway, I really had myself convinced I should just wait for a deal on a lightly used 2008 1LT, yellow, MN6, z51. I'm really hung up on that LS3 thing.

So, I run across an 06 3LT Yellow, all of the above plus NAV, Glass Top, Chrome Wheels, no exhaust or any other mods...9600 miles. I can get it for $35k.

I had written this deal off a few days ago as I had re-focused on an 08. But after looking around more here and other areas online, that car seems to be a fairly good deal. Just hard to justify buying a model soon to be 3 years old for $6k less than a NEW 08 base, or $8k less than a new z51. Rather do my own exhaust, going to add black motorsports so wheels are no biggie, honestly would rather have the painted top.

Is there more to the 3LT that I'll appreciate? Is this THAT great of a deal? I mean, it's not sold.

if a ls3 is what you want just wait and the right car will come along. Or just wait alittle longer to save up a few extra bucks and get a new one just like you want. Yellow...Im starting to like the yellow ones more and more

I was in a similar situation. I found a well loaded 2006 for $34k and just felt it was too close in price to a new one and I am going with a new one. Drive both and see what you like. If you like the 2006 then you can spend the savings on mods. The 2006 I found was not in great shape when I actually went to see it so that made the decision easier.

It doesn't sound like the '06 is exactly what you want. For that kind of money, keep looking for a used one or look at the inventories at the large dealerships. There are a lot of new 08s available.

It's an ok and fair deal to me. Not great. But not bad. In line with what Dave said above, how many forum dealers have you called re an '08? If you haven't, you're doing yourself a disservice imo.

07 for $35k - 5k miles. I say you keep looking and get what you want.

Ya, I've been checking with the forum dealers. Unfortunately most of them are pretty far away. Reliable Chevy (just a 150 miles away) doesn't have what I want. Maxie Price is the next closest 850 miles away....08 z51 1LT $42,527 out the door. Then airfare, gas, etc. Still working on it.

I agree, I think I'll be wishing I had waited for an 08. Ultimate would be to find that 08 car with headers/exhaust, intake and other tasteful mods. Ahhh to dream!

I'd either wait or offer less for it. Enough less that you'd feel like you made a great deal and are happy to live with it with no regrets.
In the Dallas paper a new base model can be had for under $40,000.
On the other hand, driving my '06 daily, I never have felt like I'm driving an almost three year old car!! btw/ I bought it new in Aug. of 2006, so it's not even two years old to me. Yup, got it from the dealership advertising above.
Good luck.

Buying a Corvette is very personal and is more than just dollars and cents. It goes beyond finding a "deal". I found my used '05 about 300 miles from here, and while it had some toys HUD, etc.) that I didn't care about, it had low miles, with the manual transmission and a color that I really liked. I also had the opportunity to talk to the previous owner. The dealership negotiated...and I wound up paying a bit more than my "number", but it was the right car for me and I have zero regrets.

The point is this, once you find the "right" car it really isn't about saving a couple hundred or maybe even $1000. Those are important when you are buying a run of the mill car that holds no special meaning to you. A few dollars spent evaporate over the years of enjoyment when you find "YOUR" Vette.
Good hunting....

The prices are going to continue to fall. Be patient and keep looking. Dealers are overstocked now, gas is an issue along with the economy. Good choice on yellow by the way.

You'll see some dealer cash coming soon to help move the 2008 model cars......2007 Corvettes had dealer cash for left over models.

i bought a 1LT 08 over a 3LT 07 and have never looked back... if the heads up display and heated seats are your thing then so be it. you can always add the HUD later, just a thought. I wouldnt want to live knowing i could have an LS3 and a switch to toggle my NPP

I have an 07 1LT so I would definitely go for the 08 . In my mind the bigger performance outweights any others.

Dirt - 35k is too much for an '06. I had a forum member Dealer offer me a Black '07 3lt loaded w/ nav and chrome wheels for 36.5k and I turned him down. Hang in there. Ps. my deal on the '08 in VA fell through.

$35k is way to high for an 06 3LT. You can get a base 08 new for $40k and start from there with a car that is 2 years newer. Don't make compromises in buying what you want, otherwise you'll be one of the people here that take a big hit one year later.
