I'll bet that the rubbing noise you hear is the differential. It radiates through the chassis and can give the perception that it's coming from somewhere else. I noticed that you're having the diff. fluid changed. My guess is that it'll solve the problem. Make sure they use the latest TSB dated 1/08 that calls for the LS75W-90 fluid too. My '07 manual trans actually radiated through the gear shift lever and the fluid change cleared it up completely.

JJC5. Just got my C6 back from dealer ..rear posi fluid changed as well new nuts on axel per the TSB....... Totally resolved , noise no rear end noise & front wheel noise also disapeared ..........

mechanic said to drive for a few days & if front wheel noise continued he would take another look...& that it ( noise) probably was radiating to front from rear axel........... he was correct

all is well & good

There is an updated TSB on this condition that utilizes the new DEXRON® LS gear oil, P/N 88862624.
