Default #1 Key fob---Went through washing machine...

So, the wife put my shorts in the wash and the #1 FOB was in there. It was washed and dried.

The FOB stopped working. I replaced the battery in the FOB and it still doesn't work.

Do I need to reprogram that FOB #1 or is the board inside the FOB shot? Do I know have to purchase a new #1 FOB?

Thoughts????

Thanks,
Ryan

I also washed the FOB , even went through the dryer cycle. Totally forgot I had left FOB in one of my jean pocket's till I heard a clicking noise from the dryer. Went immediately to start up the car, no problem. Good Luck with yours.

When any piece of electronic equipment gets wet, the most important thing is to remove power from it right away. Open it up, pull the battery and give it a couple of days to dry out completely. Don't heat it, just let it dry naturally. Then put it back together and it may work. Re-programming shouldn't help as its the car that is really being re-programmed, not the fob. The fob always puts out the same digital signature. Re-programming just tells the car to accept that particular fob.
If it doesn't end up working, it may be shot. The fobs are pretty durable, but there are some things that they can't handle.
If you end up needing another fob, PM me, I expect to have a couple soon.

Be sure and dry it out in the sun for a day or two. The FOB on my 08 went through the washing machine also. Set it in the sun for a day and it worked great. Six months later it is still working fine.

Tell her to use fabric softener next time. Makes my FOB fluffy soft and gives it that breezy fresh scent.

I washed and dried mine once. I opened it up and no water had gotten inside. It still works fine.

How much do new FOBs cost? I presume you can order one from a dealer and have them re-code it.

Also, is there any way to get the glove box lock/key replaced and about how much would that run?
