Tempted to buy Z
I've been debating for some time now about putting a supercharger on my '05. The car is already modded to the hilt and I love the car. However, I keep seeing these nice Z06's in the low 50k range. I'm torn between the Z and S/C.
There's a b/b '06 Z with 6k on the clock right down the street for $54k. I suspect I could pick it up for $52.
I've never driven a Z. My car has cam, ported heads, intake, 4.10 rearend, exhaust, etc. It's pretty damn quick off the line.
What to do....

what are you trying to do? Is this mostly street, or a lot of strip as well?
I am assuming that you have driven a Z before....Me personally would not want a supercharged car in the street....If you must do one or the other, I would go with the Z....on the other hand if you want to go quick and mostly strip car, S/C your '05 is the way to go, as it will be quicker than the stock Z in Portland...heck it is probably quicker as it sits now...
How about do nothing and take the money that you'd be throwing in to the Z or S/C and invest it? I know, that's not fun....
good luck...

Forgot to mention you will not get the resale out of the SC.
Also based on your inclinations to do such a mod. Try the Z06!
It is the step up you will like!
Get it while its cheap! Like Employee pricing or haggling some poor dealer to a minimum deal.
Good Luck
Bob

It's kind of sad how we buy our "dream" car and it is so perfect and we are so happy with it.....life just couldn't be better. Then we see one with $4000 wheels or we hear one with headers and exhaust. Or drilled and slotted rotors. Or more horsepower. Or a widebody rear end, or a total widebody conversion. And we look/listen to it and think THAT'S what my car should look/sound like. It's just not fair....we were so happy and now we NEED more.
You have done so much to your car and it's very, very nice BUT it's not a Z. You could continue to mod it but in the back of your mind you NEED a Z. I don't think that will go away.....it is what it is.
Go for it!
BTW I saw both of the club Zs this weekend and that red one is a stunner. Lots of black ones out there but the red is just perfect on a Z. I've never been a big fan of lipstick red Corvettes, but it's the cat's meow on a Z.

There are some smokin deals on used Z06's right now. I've been doing some looking as well. Took my 08 coupe out last night with the top off and it was so nice riding in it that way. That's the only hangup for me right now..3 months ago I needed the targe...now 3 months later I'm wondering if I'll miss it..
Uh ohhh here we go again!
