Default How much should courtesy delivery cost?

How much should courtesy delivery cost?

Basically when you order a car from a forum dealer and it is shipped directly to a local dealer?

Are these prices established or do you have to call a local dealer and say

" how much would it cost if I bought a car from another dealer and had it shipped to your dealership? "

Thanks.

I paid $175. I was told that is very reasonable.

You should work it out with the dealer. They should tell you in advance.

Usually about $300-500 from what I have been reading. Not bad for a couple hours of work.

Negotiate the price though up front.

You'll also get the "Why didn't you buy the car from us?".

I think 2 to 3 hundred was common when I got my C5. I believe I paid 2 hundred.
The selling dealer helped set it up.

$0.
Had mine dropped at front door. 100 mile trip. Not a local dealer. Found a dealer who is a Corvette Enthusiast. Didn't care how the local guys, 50 mile radius, left Corvettes outdoors and had the stupid Dealer Logos on paint.

I've seen courtesy delivery prices range from $175 to $750. YMMV. It is up to the dealer what they choose to charge and what you get for the service.

So this is something that the buyer should setup( not the forum dealer) ?
Who do you normally call at the local dealer to set this up? The owner or general manager,etc..?

I suppose this should delivery charge should also include the " dealer prep" ?

Thanks.

I've been quoted $0.I didn't follow thru because I had another offer on the table, but I would have and it was from a very honorable dealer/manager.

Sometimes a forum dealer will set it up in advance for you, but usually you call your local dealer to find out the price for same. I'd say it's usually service that does it, but maybe a call to Gen Sales Mgr. will do the trick. And yes, preparation is included in that price.

Note there are some dealers who won't do it, for whatever reason. It could be a good thing esp. if they know nothing about Corvettes.

Here in the great Pacific NW I got responses that ranged from "We do not do that", to "What is that?", and those that did wanted between $500 and $750.

I would try and have the Forum dealer set it up if possible. They tend to know who will do it willingly and who is not wild about it. Let them work their contacts for you.

When Bowling Green ships a car to your local dealer, that was purchased from another dealer, GM pays the receiving dealer to do the Pre Delivery Inspection. The amount for the courtesy delivery charge is determined by the receiving dealer. I believe that all of our forum dealers will do the legwork, but the purchaser has to pay for the courtesy delivery.

if you special order the car from a forum dealer, they should be able to have it drop shipped to your place for GM freight cost. but not a car in their existing inventory

By the implied definition "Courtesy delivery" shouldn't cost anything. After all, whats the word courtesy mean??? But being thats not the way it is, they ought to just call it what it is, "Paid Remote delivery". I'm sure that GM pays whatever dealer something for the auto prep anyway. so if its really a courtesy (and I think they're helping out the selling dealership as much as the buyer) it ought to not cost anything.

Some Houston dealers will not do a 'courtesy delivery'.

Default EVS will set up courtesy delivery.

Bought mine from EVS, I told Greg what dealer he should set it up with, and it cost me $200.

$490 typically minus the same discount rate you are getting on other options plus a one way plane ticket to Nashville plus a one way car rental from Nashville to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. When you do PDIs on an average of 5 Corvettes a day you tend to do it a little better than the shop that sees maybe 2 a year.

When you pay for "courtesy delivery" it usually includes a delivery with very little courtesy. Most local dealers are going to be POed that you bought from someone else and are going to try to stick it to you to prevent you from doing that. I say most because there are a few smart ones who know that the big money in cars is in service and would want to ensure you thought of them first. My experience is that most dealerships aren't that smart or at least the people you will talk to in sales aren't that smart or don't care about that "dirty" department.

I purchased from a forum dealer and they set the whole thing up for me.
I was supposed to be charged $300 for courtesy delivery, but when I picked up the car they forgot to charge me for it and I paid $0!

Default $0

I got a smaller dealer to do it for $0! I had been qouted $200-$400 from larger dealers that I have bought cars form in the past but checked on a local country dealer and he said I won't charge you anything - he said all he would like is for me to consider using his service dept in the future for my Chevrolet vehicles.

I thought it was a smart move on his part cause he isn't making anything on the sale at the price I bought it at. But he will make money on any service opportunities. They did the prep and PDI but didn't fill the tank. Thats fine by me.

That is a smart dealer who is thinking of the big picture.

Thanks for this suggestion.
