Default Anyone else think that a mid-year stinger hood for the C6 would look great?

I've always loved the mid-year C2's.........one of the all time most beautiful cars ever made. The 63 split still takes my breath away, but the 67 big block with the stinger hood is I think the best looking hood of all time.

With the many styling cues that the C6 takes from the C2 -- what would you think of an exact replica stinger hood (not some high rise modification that calls itself a stinger hood) for the C6?
I am not usually in favor of switching a hood for only cosmetic reasons, but I'll bet if I saw one of the stinger hoods (yes, stripe and all) on a C6, I could be convinced to do so.............Maybe someone, somewhere even makes one, but I've not seen it yet!

Maybe someone that's skilled in Photoshop could show what it would look like. All that I've seen for a C6 is the "stinger" style taping or sticker for the hood and IMO any sticker looks like crap.

If I WERE going to do this to our car, it would have to be done first class all the way.....Painted stripe, cleared in, smooth with the rest of the paint.........no paint or stripe lines that you could feel with your fingertips.........

I'n generally not in favor of non-functional mods, and since C6's are front/bottom breathers, it makes no sense to me to put a "carburetor" style hood on one. But that's just mho - your car, your money.

As I recall those hoods were not functional. They might look nice on a C6. I don't like the Z06/ZR1 front intake design at all. So even if the "intake" didn't provide air to the engine it might be opened up to circulate air to cool the engine compartment. Or not.

stock is best

Lingenfelter makes a hood which looks a lot like the hood that you described. It's the twin turbo model special edition.

This will give you an idea of how it may look. Not perfect, but something I put together in Photoshop.

Initially, I thought it might. But after seeing the "composite" shot, maybe not. Even tho the C2 was quite rounded, it seems to have had more hard lines. It doesn't look like the stinger hood would fit on the C6. jmo.

I do like some of the ducted hoods such as the one from LGM.

Not for me but it's what you think that matters.

A time honored automotive design rule is "form follows function". If a stinger hood isn't functional (where's the air intake?), all you have it nostalgic Tupperware. I say leave that stuff to Pontiac if/when they ever come out with a new Superchicken Firebird.

Other than trying to clear the top of the SC, most aftermarket hoods are not technically "functional" either. I agree though that the hood that I am proposing is completely and entirely cosmetic.........maybe even a tribute hood.

Doesn't look as good as I thought it might. Nice Photoshop job.

I like the ACI Vettes one but the other one is definitely interesting. I would go with the ACI version though but that is just my opinion.

Not really the stinger design. The stinger was the point that came down in the center of the hood, not just the raised cutout.

I don't think the '67 427 hoods were functional. I had one, I don't recall any opening for air.
