Default P0449 Evap Vent Solinoid

Does anyone know the location of the solinoid causing the P0449 DTC.
I purchased the solinoid but can't locate it as I'm still waiting for my shop books to arrive.

Thanks

Default No such DTC in my GM Shop Manual

Sorry, but in my set of 3 GM / Helms Shop Manuals for the 2006 C6, I show no such Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). Nearest code is P0461, I cannot find a P0449.

DTC P0449 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Solenoid Control Circuit

The vent valve is on the right side of the frame next to the transmission.

The canister vent solenoid is only activated when the ecm commands a vacuum leak test of the EVAP canister system. Check fuse #13 (25A) in the under hood fuse block. The fuse is called MRRTD on the fuse block cover lid. If the fuse is good then check to see that 12 volts is available at the solenoid connector or if the solenoid is open.
Mine was blown after a cat back install. The main harness can be damaged during the install process as it is rather close to the exhaust pipe. I found exposed copper where the pipe edge had nicked the harness wrap.

Thanks For all the info
I have a 05 coupe and the light comes on every time I start, scanner reads P0449 and the software say's Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Solenoid Control Circuit. Says it's getting commanded but not getting feedback to confirm it changed postion
I purcahsed the part from GM Partshouse, $22 and some change shipped. I will check the fuse # 13 after work today and when I put my hands on the solinoid I just as well put the new one in after checking the voltage. The only other problem I had with my car was the clutch pedal switch and replaced it to clear the engine light.
Thanks Guys, I always find the answer to my Vette problems here as I'm On vette # 4

That is the EVAP canister purge solenoid that is located on the engine. The EVAP canister vent solenoid is the one that is located in the right rear and that circuit is the one that is causing PO449.

Default Final Outcome For The P0449

I replaced the Vent valve under the rear passenger side of the car and reset the DTC with the handheld and no more check engine light
Glad there was not a wiring problem and a quick fix was replacement

My GMC truck kept on setting a vent solenoid code. Replaced the solenoid---the code came back in a few days. Finally found out the canister was contaminated. Mine was contaminated with dust----but I guess they can load up with fuel too (topping tank off at fill up).

Anyhow I'm sure you're good to go but keep the canister thing in mind if the code comes back.

Default P0 449/ vent valve solenoid

Went to DMV for inspection and was rejected for this. I went to dealer and found out location is on passenger side in tunnel that torque tube runs through. I removed solenoid and tested by using a 12 V motorcycle battery in order to avoid buying a new when I didn't need to. Turns out solenoid was good. I was stumped and finally brought my '99 coupe to the dealer. Beleive it or not they called me and said that the plug that fits in to the solenoid went bad. Long story short they wired a new plug into the harness and the emission code is now gone. The technician said that some of these plugs have a tendency to just go south as they age. . .so much for quality parts. Just like the lousy turn signal flasher they decided to bury in the middle of the dash that one day decided to stop working. No easy fix there either . . enjoy taking apart your dash to pop in the stupid flasher!! hope this helps.

Yep, that happened to me when I had my catbacks installed. FU #13 was
blown and the shop did not have a scan tool. Another way to confirm is to
check if its hard to put the CAR in reverse. The same fuse powers the reverse lockout on M6's. That will confirm or just pull it and see if its open with a meter. Good luck

Help! I'm trying release the canister vent valve from the frame bracket. I get seem to get it free. What do you need to do to free it off the bracket?

Anyone have a pic of what this solenoid looks like? will i be able to spot it easily?
i have the code also, my fuse is ok, i have en extended warranty that should cover this but as another member posted it's $22 i may attempt to do this myself just for the convenience factor of avoiding a trip to the dealer.
