66 here, if you think getting in and out of a C6 is bad(I have a 09 Z06), stop by and I'll let you try out my 56.

might just do that - I go up to KC to see the wife's family every now and then and Springfield is not far out of the way.

I sprint across the yard [naked] and jump in with both feet first. I also wear a helmet and lube my whole body with Vaseline.

YMMV.

FWIW, if you're in a garage or other scenario where you can't open the door completely a Window Valet helps tremendously. The windows being down because of their curvature gives you a much better angle to flop your rear down

At 42 I'm starting to think I'm too young to own my Corvette, especially after reading threads like this one.

No kidding, the Wifey© had to come get out their bushes once with wheelbarrow and some oven mitts.

That's the beautiful thing about Vettes is it doesn't matter how old you are! I see tons of youngins' driving them around this area.

There - no problems, eh?
...doesn't everyone do it this way?????

C1's are much easier to get in and out. I am 68 and my wife struggles to get in and out of a C6. Not easy for me either. Keeps me on the sidelines.

If my waist was the same size as it was when the 56 was new, I might agree with you. Don't know if you are aware of this, but the 53's thru 57's had the steering wheel 2 inches further into the cockpit then the 58 thru 62. Also the seats on the 53 thru 60 didn't adjust as far rearward as the 61-62. It is 10X's easier to get in and out of a 61-62 then a 53-57.

I think it makes a difference with your height. I back in (seat back steering all the way up) then swing my legs in at the same time. I'm 5'7" and have pretty long legs but the 'swing' works great. Getting out I'm probably not so graceful - swinging out is more difficult and probably not too lady like. :bb I also use the rocker panel plate to push up on when exiting.

Default Getting in and Getting out of Corvette

Well, I guess the other guys have pretty much covered the ins and outs of how they do it.............so I'll just say that I get into my new 2008 CRM 3lt coupe just like you do. but, I have a lot of trouble getting out cause I just don't want the fun to stop so soon. By the way, you young ones just haven't seen anything yet as I am 72 years old and in my first Corvette.

any way you see fit is all that matters! just make sure you don't carry a pocket knife with a metal clip, this will take a chunk out of your steering wheel getting in, and scratch the door panel real good on the way out! (no not the vette thank god, an import)

Make sure that your exit memory is set to highest level for the seat when you get out. Gettin in I just fall into the seat then swing legs around. Getting out I use hands on the sill like the other people.
As soon as you start the car again the seats will go back to your driving position for those drifting burn outs down the onramp.

I had three C1's. 54,58 and a 61. Granted I was between 18 and 24 years old and they were all verts. But I have a friend with a 62 vert and the seating is much more upright and very easy for me to get in. The space between the wheel and the seat when all the way back was never an issue. The C6 coupe is much lower and I feel I almost have to lay down to enter it. We have test driven several coupes, no verts. No way my wife can deal with it comfortably with her knee, even as a passenger. But I still am thinking about the vert.

I'm 6ft 190lbs. I can't get the seat back far enough whether to exit or for comfy driving. Getting out is a pain no matter what, as to rubbing the bolster. It happens.

I am 74 and my better half is 70, we drive over 30000 miles a year in our VY Corvette, mostly to Corvette shows. No problem getting in and out. just sold my 2007 and waiting for a 2009 same color.
