Vettes and Jets on the Lex II
That's right!!! We have had an over whelming response to please do this event one more time. We are currently working with the USS Lexington to put something together for September 2009. This event will be held to support the Wounded Warrior Project!! Check them out at woundedwarriorproject.org! Stay tuned for more info as we get it available such as actual dates and the web site to sign up!

You know what I would do, tie it in with the Corvette Caravan in September 2009. It would make a great event for the folks coming East to B.G.

Rio Vista Vettes located in the San Francisco Bay Area did something similar with the USS Hornet which is perminently docked in Alameda, California.
It was a great day, although we didn't get to put our Vettes on the flight deck like you guys.

Cruise-In VIII Veteran
I went to the first Vets and Jets on the Lex and really enjoyed it. I hope you can work it out so it doesn't interfear with the 09' caravan schedule, I'm already scheduled for the caravan and looking forward to it as well. I'd like to be able to attend both events.

WOW, you guys got to go on the carrier with your vettes. How did you get them on since the carriers are pretty high.
We have two carriers in RI at the Newport Navy Base. The Sarasota and the Forrestal. Here's a couple of pictures I took last Sunday. Closest I could get to them.

The Vets event in 2007 was great - a few pics:
We got onto the carrier via the aircraft elevator, starboard side. There is a long concrete pier that runs up to the elevator, and we each drove our cars up onto the elevator and were then lifted onto the flight deck. Very cool.
