Frankly, mercedes is a boring car. Also the oil changes ($450) once a year and service is EXPENSIVE!!!
I had a 2004 E 320 that broke down in traffic and was lemen lawed. They took it bak and I now have a 2007. Seems OK but not exciting.
I'll keep the vette and drive the mercedes to dinner.

Greener Grass?
A friend once thought that the grass was greener on the other side of the hill. When he got there, what appeared from a distance to be green grass was the same green weeds he had left behind, just in a new location. Not only is it cheaper to keep her, its easier and quicker to fix what is broke on both of you than trying to diagnois the check engine lights on wife 2.0!
My advice is to find out what she wants. A ring, vacation, etc. and buy it for her, then convince her the resale value on the 07 vert sux and is not a good move right now.
Good luck.

I had several SL's before buying this Vette . . . .was restoring a 74 before getting the C6 and always enjoyed the Benz, but it's an entirely different car.
It is quick- although certainly not "Corvette torque" quick and IMO has a much more refined and comfortable interior and the power top--coupe to vert-- process is hands down better than Corvette but you pay liberally for that privilege.
If she wanst her own "fun car", maybe find her one off lease and keep your own toy- - this model debuted in `03 so there are plenty out there and it's a great time to buy.
Good luck

I guess the wife makes all your decisions for you if she tells you to trade your Vette and you hit the forum for input on a Mercedes per the wifes directive.

I agree with all of the above. I've had 3 SL500's since 03. Never drove the SL550. Believe it or not IMO the Merc drives harder then the Vette. What I mean is the Vette is actually more comfortable. The Merc seems lower then the Vette (my imagination perhaps) and was always difficult to get in and out. I believe they came out with the 6 speed auto in 04. 1st yr was a 5 spd. Car is awefully quick and handles like a dream.
Not fair to compare the two. BTW, If you can pick up an SL 55, or 63 GO FOR IT! I had an 03 SL55. The car is a beast and fast as Hell

Safety Car
I had a CLK500 with the AMG package, it was a nice car, good power and a good driving car (this was my daughter favorite car). My wife has a E500 which is a great sedan, fast considering the weight of the car, but for some unknown reason the stitching on the rear seats came apart. MB will not touch it, so for an expensive car to have flaws is outrageous.
My wife told me NO MORE MB's. Now maybe I can talk her into his and hers Vettes, she can have mine and I can go and get a ZO6 . But then I will be sleeping with the dog.
On the SL it is to me one of the nicest looking cars ever built, but to weigh over 4K lbs and powered by 382 HP cannot even come close to a C6. A guy I know has one and he floored it in front of me and it couldn't even spin the tires. And for those that don't know SL means Super Light .... at 4K lbs that definitely is not light.

Thoughts on this, hmmmm? What are you a pussified, spinless Captain wimpy arms type? Why ask here, sounds like you already have commands from head quarters, better snap to private, the General has spoken........!!
