Aston Martin - LS3
I was at Excelisor Motorsports in San Diego getting my car tuned and I saw this pull in... An 1987 Aston Martin with an LS3 coming in to get tuned... Lots of room in there...!

I guess weight distribution could be improved by moving the engine back by, what seems to be, about a foot. But then again, I have no idea what maybe the potential problems in doing so.

I think it's more for the servicing aspect. Just about anyone can work on a Chevy vs. the AM . . . . and alot cheaper.

To get to the point, it appears the Aston in question is an earlier model DBS or Vantage. In other words, not as collectible as a lot of other cars in today's silly auction world. I think what the owner has done makes perfect sense and may in fact have a beautiful car he can actually use.
IMO the last "collectible" Aston-Martin was the DB5 (The James Bond car, if you will). Everything since is little more IMO than an expensive Jaguar. And, as other posts have suggested, the small-block Chevy is a popular engine swap for those as well.
