Default Closing the rear hatch on a C6 coupe

I have found the hatch power pull-down works 99% of the time IF you push and hold the button long enough for the pull-down motor to raise to the upper position. It needs about 2 seconds of hold for this to happen. I listen for the pull down motor to raise before releasing the button. When I close the hatch, I gently lower it all the way and then push down until the power pull-down finsihes the job. Once in a while it does not pull down, but if I open the hatch and try again it normally works.

Mine has the handle that was taken away at the assembly plant mid 2007 model year. I simply pull down on it and let it go. Not hard mind you, just enough to close partially and the motor does the rest.

No problem with mine ~ lower the hatch and the power pull-down engages...hatch closed.

Same here. Once you learn the routine, it works everytime.

Default Alarm

I have had the same problem with my 2005 on the back hatch. Sometimes it doesnt go all the way down and then when I push it down manually my alarm goes off....lol....had it happen at a golf course as guys were teeing off, man was I embarrassed. It is hit and miss, most times it works properly.

Don't baby the hatch down, if the windows are up just slam the hatch down the motor will take over and secure the hatch. If the windows are down then just close the hatch and the motor will take over.

Just leave one door open and drop the hatch lightly and it locks. No force needed.

That's the whole reason for having the hatch pulldown motor - so you don't have to leave a door open.

With my C4, you really have to slam it when the doors are closed. On a C6, the pull down motor will close it.

I think those that have problems closing the hatch are afraid of dropping the hatch with any sort of force (doesnt take much to close) and just gently latching it.

I just lower mine by hand and give it a small, quick push. The motor takes over from there and locks down the hatch.

About 2-3 years from now, check that spot where you put your hand to push it down. See if it needs repainting.

How is that any different from touching any other part of the car?

Over the life of the car I will probably touch the hatch much less than many other parts of the car anyway. Is the paint on my hood going to wear out from opening and closing it?

I said a small push. It doesn't take much for the motor to grab.

I tried letting the motor do it, but was about 50/50 at getting it latched. Now I grab the metal hook and give it a yank... gravity does the rest. When this motor dies, I'm hoping I can replace the latch with the Z06 unit. Don't need an electric motor to close the lid... Should slam it like a real American car!
