WLS stood for World's Largest Store as Sears owned the station back then. I think Clark Weber, Gene Taylor, Dex Card worked the daytime slots and Dick Biondi(anyone remember his trademark "on top of a pizza" song?) had the prime 8 til midnight, then Art Roberts did the "east of midnight" show. I always remembered the spot jingle for the weather report "whats the weather for the weekend gona be, will it be hot....cold....rain....snow" doooooowaaaaaa.
Another huge Chevy dealer was Cellozzi-Ettleson off of Roosevelt rd(rt.38) by Elmhurst. They did tv spots all the time with the slogan "Hard to find, tough to beat" and also with the two guys saying "Where you always save more money" with both of them holding fistfulls of cash.

At his age, that is fantastic. Remember Clark Weber ? I see he is still with us too. (sighs) Yup, those were truly the golden days of radio.

Long Chevrolet, They had a boy about 13-15 years old reading their commercials and at
the end they smashed his face with a pie. Everyone watched the
commercial for the pie in the face. We went to Long Chevy once
their show room was very very small, but there new car lot was
very very large. I think GM closed them down for shady operations.
