Default Sirius XM Radio Confirms Rate Hike

Another reason why I love my mp3 connector in my vette

If you’re a Sirius XM Radio customer, finish reading this blog post and then get on the phone and renew your contract.

Beginning March 11, Sirius XM confirmed that it will raise its rates. This includes a $2 increase for the subscription and a $2.99 fee for internet radio service (although all internet subscriptions will now include a 128k feed).

By locking in a new contract before March 11, subscribers can benefit from lower rates for the next three years.

Sirius XM hopes that the announcement will help it tackle issues of debt, both by provoking subscribers to lock in those lower rates or by generating more revenue with higher prices.

Roger that. Increase prices, decrease revenue. They will find that out, especially in this economy.....

I got 15 months for $77 last go round. If I don't get the same deal, I'll be history as far as they're concerned. Don't drive the car that much, or listen to XM, to be worth a dime more.

$2 bux more wouldnt bother me. However, It may help them survive which is a good thing.

I'd hate to have bought all these options on the Vette and you cannot use them because they are out of business.

Yup, GM better not even think about increasing the MSRP on the vette.

...there will be more deals and special offers even with the increases ~ especially if they want to survive.

I agree with the others. I have 3 XM units and if they raise the price I just start using my iPod.

I have XM in the Vette and SIRI at home and in the Sequoia. I'll need to look into multiple tuner discounts. Last time I called XM (India) to renew, they didn't really recognize the SIRI part of my account.

Wassup Gene? Happy New Year.

No price hike on Primary Radio for that Account.
March 11 - The increase is $2 more for additional radios on same account from $6.99 to $8.99 per month per radio.
Also no more free online access. $3 for that now.

I thought I heard someone say that they were succesful and got them to honor an XM radio on Sirius Acct. as a secondary unit for the reduced rate.
I plan to try this when XM calls me to ask why I haven't renewed yet, been ignoring the bill. Cars asleep for the winter.

I have Sirius in my Daily Vehicle.

Hi Matt. Happy New Year to you. Hope to see you soon! My parents called about the XM and Sirius single account and they said that wouldn't be available for a while yet.

XM has a huge debt problem coming up in the next few months. A lot of it is coming due and there are many doubts (reason stock sell for only $.11 a share) that it can get the new funding it needs. They might have a deal now, but if it folds you get zip.

I have both XM and Sirius. If the rate increase isn't obscene, I'm with 'em. Local Valley stations suck. I have 3000 songs on my iPod, but sometimes I want to hear something other than the Beatles, Motown, etc...

Plus, my wife is so much into her favorite Sirius/XM stations, if I canceled I would be living in my Corvette... With no XM!

Puzzles me why people will spend $45k to $90k on a Corvette, spend hundreds of dollars on mods, and then worry about a few bucks more a month on XM?!

But I'm old and easily puzzeld!

They will not get another dime from me. If they fold, good riddance. I'll just listen to my old cd's.

I'll live with it - I have XM in the vette and Sirius in my wife's car that I originally had in my 02 - when you live in the middle of nowhere and the two local radio stations are bad and you are not into CD's or downloading music such as me, XM and Sirius are a good deal. And I get use out of it as my vette is my DD.

The local FM talk station isn't bad, but tough to pick up 100 miles outside of Phoenix. I'm into road trips. XM/Sirius the only way to go!
