AUSTIN TEXAS DRIVERS ??? and Formula 1 Fans...
so..it's been a while since I've done any club/group drives here in Austin.
Which groups/clubs are fun and eventful ????
(I know of HCD-Hillcountry Drive, Longhorn Corvette Club)
AND YAY FOR US..NEW HOME OF THE FORMULA ONE TRACK! ;D

Austin will host Formula 1 starting in 2012 is the current rumor, which appears to be true. They are looking at land off the 130 near the airport for the track. It will be awesome!

More than a rumor, it is fact... F1 in Austin in 2012
I'll probably be coming down in 2012 for that one!
Any of you Austin guys know exactly where the track is (or will be)??

They've not announced the official location, but it's supposed to be near the intersection of hwy 130 and hwy 183. This area is only a few miles from our airport, which will make access very easy.

It sounded like this has been secretly being talked about down there for approx 3 years already....Hopefully for all you guys down there in TX you'll have a nice place for some HPDE tracks days once this thing gets completed. When new F1 facilities are designed and constructed they are always incredible...

Echoing what's posted here, the new track is supposedly to be located pretty close to the airport (a good thing from a logistics standpoint).
It should be a pretty impressive facility (everything F1 tends to be!) and should bring a good international crowd to Austin.
I'm definitely going to the inaugural 2012 race.
Let's hope that Austin doesn't mess this up!

Sounds like you know about the Longhorn club, that's the one that I hear is the most social.
I just got back into a Vette 6 months ago, haven't signed up for any clubs... I just kinda go for a drive when I feel like it
