What do you need a "KEY" for? The car works off of a proximity based fob. I don't think I'd want to hide one of those in the car anywhere. I know it's a pretty smart system, and there are areas that it will not work in, but still.
If you mean just the key for the rear hatch, then get an 08+ fob and the key hides inside it.

The B-106 Hillman key for the Saturn is the same blank as for the C6. It is available with or without the plastic head. It is available through the better hardware stores and your favorite locksmith. Attach it to the back of a rarely used credit card with tape or take a razor knife and put some slots in the cc for the key to be inserted in. Put it in your wallet and if you accidentally leave your fob in the car, then take out your wallet and open the rear hatch with the key and open the door with the emergency release.

Not sure about an '06. But for my '09, I just had 2 spare trunk keys made. A flat one for my wallet (B106), and one with a plastic head (B106P). Only ~$4/each at a local locksmith.
Of course, you need your FOB to start the car. But I've heard that the spare key is handy if you lock the FOB in the hatch area "dead zone."

I expected at least one reply like yours. Have one factory key and 3 fobs. carry it along with a house key on ring with fob with me. Son and wife have own fobs and no key. They don't use the C6 often but it does happen. Guess I'll just have some spares cut. Battery in the Cadillac remote died on me this AM when I went to use remote start, to warm it up. Started me thinking.

Put in one of those magnetic key holders and attatch it up under the rear frame. Look up in the area behind the rear licesne plate and you'll see where it can be secured. Use some duct tape to keep it in place and cover it.

I keep a spare key in my wallet and have one hidden on the car - and I'm not saying where
The OP's car is an 06. The lock on an 06 is different from the 08+

I took duct tape & taped my key right under the lid (OUTSIDE) near the keyhole.. and in black magic marker wrote on it
EMERGENCY KEY TO OPEN CAR I figure a thief would never look right there for the keyhole

And, I know the OP didn't have an 08+, which is why I suggested GETTING the fob.

I wouldn't worry so much about a thief finding your hidden key since he can't steal the car with it. A B-106 key is not a FOB. If your car is parked somewhere and you leave something inside the car in plain sight, the crooks are not going to take the time to see if you have a spare key hidden somewhere, they are going to smash and grab. Frankly, if they want to steal something that's inside my car, I would rather they use my hidden key instead of breaking a window. Of course, the secret is not to leave anything of value in plain sight.
Around here, the little bastards go to areas that have a lot of parked cars but not many people in the parking lots, such as bowling alleys and movie theaters. They see a car they want to get into, and they stand off aways from it and then use a hunting type slingshot with ball bearings to bust the side glass. They then wait a little while before they approach the car to see if anyone responds. If no one comes running they casually walk up to the car, reach inside and help themselves. Saves from having to carry a bunch of bricks around.
