Hi Guys,
I have a question about the legality of changing my two front marker lenses, and my two rear marker lenses from amber to clear.

If this is legal, then I will be buying brighter amber bulbs to keep the lenses glowing the legal color.

If only the front clear lenses are legal, then I will just make the front clear. If they are illegal I will just leave the car alone.

I think you will be OK to change the fronts to clear with amber light . The back side lenses would best be left red.

I just looked at the DMV's website and it states.

Front Lights and reflectors front and side.

1. Parking, clearance, and identification lights clean, operating, and proper color
2. (amber at front).
3. Reflectors clean and proper color (amber at front).
4. Right front turn signal light clean, operating, and proper color (amber or white on signals
5. facing forward).

Side Rear Lights and reflectors.

1. Side-marker lights clean, operating, and proper color (red at rear, others amber).
2. Side-marker reflectors clean and proper color (red at rear, others amber).

Rear Lights only

1. Rear clearance and identification lights clean, operating, and proper color (red at rear).
2. Reflectors clean and proper color (red at rear).
3. Taillights clean, operating, and proper color (red at rear).
4. Right rear turn signal operating, and proper color (red, yellow, or amber at rear).

How can BMW's have white lights if it is illegal in NY?

As long as you have very back red and front end amber and side lights come on at night [red or amber] they won't care!!!
