Great write up by the OP however he forgot some important details such as the fact that the C6R's were winning so many races in the GT1 series that the decision was made to move to the more competitive GT2 series. As a result a decision was made to produce a limited number of GT1 commemorative corvettes. The decision was made to produce a total of 600 2009 GT1 Corvettes. 300 would be made in yellow with the black decals to commemorate the #3 car and 300 would be made in black with yellow decals to commemorate the #4 car.
Of these 300 in each color, 100 were to be convertibles, 100 to be coupes and 100 were to be Z06's. Luckily for those of us who bought them, shortly after production began on them GM went bankrupt and production of those cars ceased. Only 125 total GT1 corvettes were ever produced.
I own two of them, a black GT1 coupe (see avatar) and a yellow GT1 Z06. The production numbers as best I can recall are:
yellow: 10 GT1 Convertibles (correct)
27 GT1 coupes
38 GT1 Z06's (correct)
black: 7 GT1 convertibles (correct)
24 GT1 coupes (correct)
19 GT1 Z06's
In addition to the decal package that you see across the hood, roof and rear deck, there were a series of flags above each window showing the flags of the countries that participated in the GT1 racing.
The interior of these cars featured yellow stitching along the seats, dash and shift **** areas and had "jake" embroidered on the dash, seat headrests and center consoles. They also featured a unique vin numbers. For the yellow #3 cars the last six of the vin started with the #3 and designated the order the cars were built. Same for the black #4 cars the sequential part of the vin started with the #4. The plastic valve train covers featured the "corvette" lettering in yellow.
At the top of the C6 thread is a sticky about the GT1 cars, don't recall who started it but they are trying to locate all the GT1 cars and keep track of them. These cars were only made in 2009.
In addition to the GT1 corvettes, for 2009 and possibly briefly in late 2008, Chevrolet produced the CSC corvettes. There was somewhere around 75 (?) of them made. I don't know the story of them except they were stripped down models (thus the competition sport coupes). They were generally silver in color but I believe there were a few white coupes made and of the 75 there were some Z06's I hear but I have no confirmation on that. I believe there is a posting, maybe a sticky about those cars also.
Of course those of us that own the GT1's hope they will be worth "millions" some day, that day will not be in my lifetime. It appears they are valued a few thousand over a non GT1 model but I can assure you they do garner attention where ever they go. It is a rarity to ever see one out on the street and most people (even corvette people) have never even heard, let alone seen one in person.
I'm told the GT1 convertibles never hit the dealer lots for sale. I tried to locate one for over a year and never found one. I did find my GT1 Z06 in Ohio at a forum dealer and found my black GT1 coupe at a non forum dealer in Iowa.

This is the 10-year anniversary of the Jake logo, but what if it had been around for the Corvette's entire history? We take a look at what Jake logos would have looked like from 1953 to 2003.
