Default Leaky Oil Pan Plug

My crankcase oil drain plug drips a little bit. Is there a simple. I am afraid to torque it any more for fear of stripping the threads.

Are you 100% sure you don't have a leaky oil pan gasket like the rest of us? It tends to accumulate on bolt heads and then drip. If is just the plug, a little more wrench probably won't hurt. Next time you change it make sure the entire plug and the area around the drain hole are wiped down to make sure it's clean.

I had the leaky pan gasket on my 2001 and it was really noticeable around 65000 miles when I traded it in.

So Chevy hasn't fixed this?

Nope! I took my 08 into the shop about 2 weeks ago with about 3.5k miles to have the oil pan gasket replaced. In and out the same day and so far no leaks after 2 weeks (knock on wood ).
