Rear window overspray
I have some overspray looking stuff on my C6 rear hatch window. I have tried EVERYTHING to get if off to no avail. Anybody experience the same stuff? Any suggestions. I have even talked about making the dealer replace the glass. Lacquer thinner, window polish, mieral spirits, old BonAmi. Nothing works . Help!

I had some stuff that I couldn't get off with anything I tried........until someone said to try Bar Keepers Friend. It comes in powder and liquid form (the liquid form (sample only) comes with glass cooktop appliances).
I went and got the powder and mixed it to a paste and it cleaned my glass. I would recommend you try a small spot first, because it is an abrasive, and see how it looks. If it looks good, just do the rest!!!
You can try either one. Total cost for the powder $1.99. The premixed liquid is a couple bucks more. Good luck

FINE steel wool will remove paint and primer overspray off auto glass without doing ANY damage to it. Whatever you do, just dont use a razor blade if anybody happens to recommend that, youll only scratch your glass. You have to be very careful not to come in contact with any painted surface, because steel wool it will scuff it. Stay on the glass, and wash your car immediately afterwards.

I run a body shop and the best thing is the polishing steel wool with a little window cleaner spray the window down and lightly scrub the glass and wipe dry!!!!! you will never see the glass so clean

Clay bar works like a charm and no problem with scratching anything. I recently had to do a windshield with paint overspray and it as smooth as a babys you know what.

My wife's SUV had the rear bumper repaired and painted a few months back. A few days later, I notice a film on her wind shield. Upon closer investigation. I realized that the body shop had not properly cover her car during the painting and there was clear coat over spray over her hold car (glass and painted surface). I tried glass polishes with polishing compound on the wind shield and windows was very little if any success. I also tried hand polishing compound on the painted surfaces with little success.
Well, I got my clay bar out with deluted Dawn in a spray bottle and give it a try. With very little effort the over spray came right off. That made a clay bar believer out of me.

I have seen steel wool pads make swirls in glass.
Paint over-spray is very common at my work (a daily occurance for the last 20 years). Razor blade with windex is the absolute best way to remove paint over spray on glass. Claybar is the best way to remove over-spray from your paint.

0000 steel wool available at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, and probably even WalMart. Cheap solution to a lot of little problems.
