Default Top Seed In Gears? '08 M6 non-Z51

Oops... that should be Speed rather than Seed.

Does anybody know what the top speeds are in each gear for this configuration? I've looked all over the web and I can't find a source for these numbers. Thanks!

Do you still have the owners manual ?
Look in there if so.

The closest I get in the owners manual is a list of maximum speeds for downshifting into gears 1 thru 4. I can't find anything related to redline speed in each gear.

Since your car has the Manual tranny its easy to find the top speed on each gear, given if there is enough power to redline on each gear, like the 5th and 6th gear which it will not redline due to lack of power. In your case, the redline is 6500RPM, take your car to the gear you want to calculate and run it to 3250RPM, and look at your the speed, multiply that by 2 and you'd get the speed at redline. This method (in my experience) only works on the manual tranny, the auto seem to be all over the place due to the torque converter.

Hmmm...That explains why my engine shut down.
I had just gotten the car days earlier and some punk in a hopped up 350Z starts messing w/ me on the highway. So I go to dump it from 5th to third, accidentally went to 2nd, floored it already foing about 70 and ppptthffft. The HUD showed a big green triangle and then the car cut out.
I nearly soiled myself thinking I had just blown the engine!

Then after a second or two of silent coasting it kicked back in, whew.

This post has me ROFL, not at you bro just the post.
This was happening to me before I got to know the car. I would hit the rev limiter in first when sliding sideways and the TC and AH nannys would kick in and shut everything down.

That's a good enough reason to get an automatic.
