LS3 vs LS2 at IDLE
Just bought a leftover 2008 and sold my 2006 and the idle of the LS3 is a bit rough. Anybody else notice this difference between the LS2 and LS3 ????

The LS3's idle is not completely smooth....it takes a pretty deep cam with a bit of overlap to make the kind of HP this engine does.....personally, I love to feel the engine shake the car a little bit at idle. It reminds me of my cammed 1969 Z28......but then the whole car is sooooooooooo smooth once you get into it, that it more than makes up for it.....

I get shake in my LS2 at idle. Usually when fully warmed up.
You probably just never noticed previously.

One of the the first things that the wife and I noticed when I went from the 02 to the 09.
We were sitting at a Red light and she said, hey, she feels like she needs a tune.
I looked at her with a **** eating grin and said, no Honey, "she's happy" that's all,,,,no tune needed.

You don't mention whether the car is an auto or a manual. Previously, I have had two LS2s an 05 and 07. Currently, I have two LS3s. Three of these four car have been manuals and one LS3 is an auto. The auto is the only one that transmits a bit of a rough idle to the feel in the car. Since the auto is normally under load when it is idling in gear and the manuals have no load when idling, either clutch in or neutral, I'm attributing the idle difference to the slight load from the auto idling in gear. My LS3 with the manual has a very smooth idle.

Only time I experience the shake is on a cold start up. After 3 or 4 minutes she smoothes right out. The cam that's in there isn't THAT big guys. I also don't notice any added choppiness when compared to my old LS2 car.
