Shell premium or Sunoco ultra ... which would you use?
I've read the post concerning using the "proper" top-tier fuel. I can run Sunoco Ultra with an octane rating of 94 (not a top tier) or Shell with a 93 octane rating considered a top-tier supplier.
What would you do?

93 or higher is good enough in my book. It doesn't matter to me about the brand name. Then again, I normally either go to BP, Mobil, or Sunoco stations, so I guess by default that I do have a preference, but more on octane than brand name.

Seriously, buy wherever premium is cheapest. Gas is a commodity item, one brand is no different from another. Buy strictly by price, unless you have a political reason to boycott a particular brand, like Chavez's Citgo.

I'd buy at Kroger, presently $1.56 a gallon with the Kroger Plus card.

All gas might be the same before it goes in the station holding tanks, there where the big differences come into play. Alot of these no name stations arent regulated and monitored by large Corps who have a vested interest in positive customer service. Their tanks are often full of sediment, water and leaking into the soil. It costs truck loads of cash to replace those tanks and they run them into the ground for as long as they can. I stick to the Big name brands.

I use SUNOCO, Exxon/Mobile or BP/AMOCO almost exclusively.

I was wondering where you are located? You may not be getting fuel produced by either.

Sunoco. The station is local. Chevron is across town and the only time I pass it is when I'm driving my truck pulling the boat. I did put some in the boat this past fill up. : )

Sunoco 260 most of the time....no issues.
However, I think that it's all BS anyway.
Shell with Platformate (remember that?) has now changed to Shell with Nitrogen?
What a crock!

The problem is that the gas coming into these brand name gas stations are often not brand name tankers so who knows what premium gas you are getting.
