I personally prefer rag over hard.

Pro's:

Easier to put down than take top off.
don't have to worry about scratching.
Much bigger opening than hard.
many more comments.
Easier to put top up once the rain starts than to put hard on.
easier to maintain the tan on my upper body.
Can see out all around a lot easier.

Con's:

May be more noisier than hard top.

My top stays down about 90% of the time.

My 06 is a DD coupe and I do drive it to Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc.. That's enough to keep me from buying another ragtop. But my first Vette was a ragtop.

If what is being said is there's more noise reaching your ears with the top down than a coupe, true. With the top up, it's quiet.

The only downside I can see is there is less room to hold "stuff" like suitcases. But the trunk on the roadster is adequate.

this is my 5th Vette and my 5th Vert. I wouldn't have it any other way... I personally think the car looks better than a coupe, top up or down...

I should have been clearer on that. Top up it's quite to me as well. The partition seems to make a contribution.

The trunk on the Vette has saved me a lot of money between my spending and my wife's spending. Simple rule: Don't buy it or a big quantity if it won't fit in the trunk. My last trip to Ikea in Orlando would have cost me $5K to $6K had I been in my dually. Not that I wouldn't have liked the items wanted but I haven't missed the purchase either.

All depends on hwo often you think you will drive with the top down. On my C-5 & C-6 coupes I rarely (the C-6 never) take the top off - maybe 2 or 3 times in 10 years. On my '62 top is down on sunny days and off the Interstates.

Only downside to a ragtop is no HPDE or good drags without a roll bar...

I went for a vert - no question. My car is a "fair weather toy", so I have a DD for commuting & bad weather. If my Vette was my DD (which was the case with my 1st Vette - a 1979), I would probably have gone with a coupe. If your car isn't going to be a DD, then I recommend a test drive. Try both a vert and a coupe on a nice day w/top up/on and top down/off, taking all combos on the freeway, if possible. I suspect that will go a long way towards making your choice......
Enjoy,

I prefer the rag top, it is more expensive, but I usually only drive it when it is nice and it is wonderful to drive it with the top down. Either way you won't be disappointed, but go with the Vert!!!!

Happy Driving!!!!!

I have a Hard top Vet and a rag top 350Z roadster, there no room in the rag top, 2 small bags and thats it..Also the top gets faded and beaten up in a few years so figure on spending 2K on that!!Also you have to treat the rag top with protectent every 6 mts.Other then that, I love it...

There's a certain Z06 Owner who is insecure if people "see" him.

If your insecure - go with a Hardtop (non removeable roof) and plenty of Tint.

Otherwise It's Florida and Convertible time !!!!!!!!

I am definitely in the minority here but had the Corvette not been available in a ragtop, I wouldn't own one. I hate the look of the coupe. I loved the look of the FRC of the C5 but not the coupe. I just don't like the bubble canopy look of the back. I agree with the posts above. If you want to track forget about it unless you have rollbars. I disagree with the DD part unless you live in an area that risks having the top sliced. For the open air feel, vert is the only way to go. It just looks better. As for noise, thats what BB fusions and the radio are for when the top is down. With the top up, you can't tell it is a vert. Also, as mentioned, less paint to get scratched.

Once you have one you'll always want a Convertible

Over the C5 and C6 model runs, my body of choice has been the coupe with its targa top.
I have had three C5 coupes and one C5 convertible. Also I have had three C6 coupes and one C6 convertible.
My preference for the coupe is as follow:

1) With the top on it is a less enclosed feeling then the convertible with the top up.
This is even more true when the transparent top is on.
2)The cargo area has much more versatility. Locally or on trips I find that helpful.
3)Although I feel that I take the top off or put the top down alot, in reality the top is on or up approximately 75% of the time.
4)The price difference between the coupe and convertible doesn't quite make sense to me.
5)The soft top is harder to maintain. It is an extra care item relative to the coupe.

With the above said, I actually like convertibles, it is just that I like coupes even better, and I have voted 3 to 1 in favor of coupes
in both the C5 and C6 generations.

My C4, C5, and now my C6 were/are ragtops. I like the open air ride. I haven't found any cons yet.

I own a vert. The cons are the small trunk and the higher cost. The pros are how beautiful the car looks with the top down and the ease of dropping the top compared to removing the coupe roof.

If you intend to do a lot of driving with the top down, get the vert. If you want a Corvette mainly for the performance, get the coupe.

Tough choice, although I have the Coupe I love the look of the convertible with the top down. Not sold on the looks with the top up although that really depends on the color combo. Other than cost, and space, the rest is kind of subjective so you have to drive both and decide which meets your taste, and needs.
